removing front sway bar, ride height change ?

omg that front bar is FRIGGIN heavy and huge!

i just removed it

is this going to change the ride height at all ?

i actually want my car to stand up higher, i dream of such occuring

seems impossible though, unless you remove huge amounts of weight

and the rear wel thats impossible apparently, the rear rides as if a full ton of weight is back there, horribly, i need to lift the rear at least 4 or 5 inches to make it look decent even and close to level

my 82 t/a ws7*

who all here has removed theirs and how does the car ride as compared to before ?

as far as regular normal daily driving is concerned*

not cornering performance and so on*

also the mounting brackets that mount to the frame and the bolts for the rubber mouting clamps thread into- are these removeable, or are they important stiffeners for the chassis under there ?

it look like bolts keep them to the frame rails

or is that not the case ?

thanks for anything

Re: removing front sway bar, ride height change ?

Hi Randy -

Removing the sway bar will not effect ride height - not of any noteable concern anyway.

Regarding the handling, you will notice a difference. The sway bar purpose is for transferring weight from left to right side of the car. Having that been said, you will notice that when you make a left or right turn, the car will "lean" heavy to the opposite direction for which you are turning. If you dont need to take it out for any reason, I would definitely leave it in -
As a stock car driver, this is a definite must have for any performance application.

Hope this helps !

Re: removing front sway bar, ride height change ?

thanks

yeah i already knew it would lean more like that of course

i know this from past experience with trucks in which is what i started out with in the automotive world

by adding or removing front sway bars on them

putting 3/4 and 1 ton bars on 1/2 ton trucks, and so on

the heavier bar would keep the truck more stable when pulling weight, etc.

i can live with the body lean roll in this car since i wont be driving it fast around turns or anything like that at all

our streets and roads are perfectly straight here, we dont even have any hills here, flat land forever and ever

thanks

Why not just buy taller springs?

Re: removing front sway bar, ride height change ?

because they cost too much and are heavier

lose lose

i assume that you mean the front ones

for the rears there is probably no other way to get the rear back up to a normal looking height without taller springs

other than making taller spring mounts in the axle tubes

no other way that i could think of right now

thanks

What about getting air shocks? You can install them yourself and change the ride height as you like.
