Re: drag launch springs

What do you mean by kit? You can buy Moroso trick springs to replace your stock ones.

Re: drag launch springs

Spohn offers a coil-over conversion kit that looks quite tasty. Both front and rear. Looking at just over a grand for both ends of car. Is definitly on my short list of upgrades.

Re: drag launch springs

I found that Ed Quay makes springs for 3rd gen www.edquay.com I am putting in a big block, they make a set for BBC and SBC designed for weight tranfer, but says will keep the car at stock height. Since I plan on using the Racecraft dropped spindles, I do not want the spring to lower the car any more. Hope that helps

Re: drag launch springs

im looking to get some more weight transfer fairly cheap. ive heard that eibach makes i kit but i havent seen it. the moroso springs suposibly suck to put in because you have to keep cutting them to fit, this car is also street driven on occasions.

Re: drag launch springs

people on other forums have told me that you need to cut them to get the desired right height. if not it will look like its lifted.

Re: drag launch springs

if you get he moroso spring you will need to cut them, you have to install them first and after a day or two you will need to take them out and cut them to ride height

i run the moroso sbc trick springs(220lb/in), 90/10's and no front sway bar on the street.. its on my daily driver/racer.. its like riding a car with blown suspension.. really soft and gives more body roll than normal.. im about 3100lbs with the stock steel hood and she sits with about 3-3.5inches of fender gap.. on those hard shifts, it will fully extend..

well for me, it doesnt hook nearly how it should.. mainly because my car is gutted and i'm running a manual with 4.30 gears.. i spin a bit off the line and when i drop it in second, on a good run, i can lift the front tires.. i still manage 1.6x-1.70 short times with 28.5x11.5-15 hoosier qtp's.. the tire in my sig was the old drag radials 275/50-15.. that hooked like crap, best of 1.81 with a 3.89 gear.. manuals and DR's dont get along too well.. i recently added 120lbs of weight in the trunk but havent been able to get back to the track to test it.. but i will say that it does leave marks on the road alot more frequently.. for rear springs i use the stockers and i have some old replacement shocks..

EDIT:also forgot to add that i only had tire pressure at 18lbs.. any lower would want to shimmy at the top end.. didnt really feel like meeting the guard rail that day..

all in all i think it would work great with your auto combo.. autos seem to hook up easier than manuals..

heres a recent video without the weight.. i spin hard off the line and hook hard in second..

it will only make the rear sit high.
i had no issues with the front.
they appear high at 1st, but once they settle in its no higher than stock. (FRONT ONLY)

Re: drag launch springs

$285 for a set of drag launch springs? Find a decent parts house with a Moog coil spring catalogue. Look up your factory spring pn, reference it's specs in the back of the book and find something thats got a taller free height and a lesser rate with the same end orientations, viola for under $100.
