Spohn Tubular LCA Bushings

so i've been searching around for an answer, and have even emailed Spohn about 4 times without a response yet. here's the situation. dumb move on my part, but i misdiagnosed a suspension squeak and ended up overgreasing the bushings in my Spohn tubular adjustable poly/spherical combo LCAs, distorting them. that was my first email to Spohn, trying to figure that one out, which got a response, thus how i know what the problem is. they told me if the bushings are distorted, i will need to replace them. that is where the replies stopped. i checked their site and the only bushings they have listed are for the stock LCAs. are these the same ones for their tubular LCAs? the squeaking coming from the bushings is driving me crazy, so i'd like to get them replaced and do it right this time, so i can finally enjoy a squeak-free car. any help will be greatly appreciated.

Re: Spohn Tubular LCA Bushings

I had the Spohn's LCA's out in a rear swap. I removed the zerk and applied pressure to both sides of the bushing, eliminating the overfill through the zerk. No problems since (three years maybe).

Re: Spohn Tubular LCA Bushings

well, i pulled the poly bushing ends off one at a time and squeezed then with the zirc fittings out to relieve the pressure, but they still look rather distorted on the inner side of each, instead of being flat like tehy are supposed to. so i put everything back together with a nice coat of grease on the side faces of the bushings, and will go test drive it soon. i think i am still going to need new bushings in the fairly near future though. so back to the original question. to replace the bushings in the tubular LCAs, are they the same bushings on Spohn's website listed as poly bushings to upgrade stock LCAs? or are there other bushing somewhere i haven't found that i need? does anyone have a clue? any help will be greatly appreciated

Re: Spohn Tubular LCA Bushings

well Tobias05, i still have yet to hear a squeak out of it since squeezing it with the zirc fitting out, and greasing the mount, and that's after lots of city driving and a hour or so trip out of town (1/2 hour each way). give it a try. get 2 pieces of wood or something flat and solid, and place them on either side of your bushing once the grease fitting is out, and use a c-clamp to squeeze the extra pressure out. that's what i did, except i couldn't find any wood or scrap metal, so i used 2 small bricks. sand the inside of the mount, apply some of the grease to the side of the bushing, and put it all back together.

so does anyone know about the bushings for the tubular control arms? it would appear i don't need them now, but if they act up again or down the road i'd imagine they'll need replacing, so it'd be nice to know what i need.

Thats odd he didnt respond back you. usually they sell them for a couple of dollars each + shipping.

Before ya install any poly stuff, doesn't matter who it is from, clean the area where the face of the poly is going to meet the metal. Usually thats where the squeeking is coming from. From the dirt and crud that is already stuck on there. Also use a decent synthetic grease (I've been using Mobil 1 for years now without a problem).

yea, unfortunately, this is really my first experience with poly bushings, so i didn't know about having to clean it and all...i do now lol. as for grease, i order a tube of the synthetic grease from Spohn every time i order anything, just so i have some on hand.

as for the bushings, i didn't figure they'd cost very much, but like i said the only bushings i see listed are on there as being replacement bushings for the stock LCAs, like to upgrade from the rubber ones without spending big money for better LCAs. i don't see anywhere saying if they are the same as what is in the tubular LCAs. while i seem to be fine for now, i'd like to replace them just in case when i have the rear suspension disassembled to do a rear end swap, hopefully within about 2 months.
