Boxing Front Lower Control Arms
Is there anyone that sells pre-cut plates to do this? Or is it not needed and would just be a waste of time?

Re: Boxing Front Lower Control Arms
never seem precut parts, it would add weight, but strengthen things up a bit. Probably useless unless you are getting into auto-x, but at that point you would probably swap them for something different anyway.
hey, its a project, have at it, wont hurt anything

Yea, new ones for $400....
Dean showed a picture on here once upon a time on how to box them in, using some 1/8"x2" flat steel stock I think it was. Try to find that picture, I saved it and reposted it a few times. I forget what name he was going by at that time...

You can get your material here:
http://www.mcmaster.com
Put "steel plate" in the search and then you can select from a almost limitless combination of width and thickness. Then you only have to make one cut for the length.

Re: Boxing Front Lower Control Arms
I was kind of thinking of using one large plate cut to match the shape of the arm. That does give me some ideas that would be easier to do though. Thanks fellas

You're just not going to get much flex from the a-arm in the plane that you are going to be strengthening by putting a plate across the bottom. You'll only flex the A-arm in this direction under braking. Unless you are running solid steel bushings you're splitting hairs when you need a hair cut.
