Cut My Front Springs

Bought new front springs from moog and cut 1/2 coil off each one and then heated 1/2 coil below to bend spring back to original shape.Did this per Herb Adams directions as seen in Camaro Performance Handbook. After doing this one spring is 1/4" to 3/8" higher than other. My question is should I correct this by heating and bending again or will they most likely even up during "settling"?

Re: Cut My Front Springs

it depends. is this on the bench or installed? settling springs seems unlikely.
hows the indexing on both springs if installed?
I have found that the sway bar if uneven will load one side of the car harder that the other. Take the sway bar off and measure it upside down from the floor on both ends. if there is a difference you can fix it by cutting the bushings to adjust.
the rear bar can influence the ride hieght as well. rear springs seem to have little if any effect by cutting them to compensate for ride height differences in the back. As i have tried cutting rear springs to fix an uneven rear and it just does not work probably due to the rear suspension solid axle.
the front end influences all four corners ride height measurments. with enough time spent you will get it all very close....

Re: Cut My Front Springs

this how they are on the bench.haven't installed yet.waiting 4 some more feedback.like i said i can reheat the taller spring and just bend it an additional 1/4".more i think about it the more im leaning that way although it will delay me getting back on road.this is my daily driver.been driving girlfriends mini-van for 3 weeks now.NOT FUN!
