Ground Control Coil over kit.
Has anyone had any experience with the ground control coil over kit?? if so was there any mods that needed to be done in order to make the kit work? Also, what shocks did you use with the coil over kit?? If anyone knows of any other coil over kits like it for a better price let me know. Just looking for opinions on this kit.
Thanks,
Kyle

In my opinion coil overs on a thirdgen cause more problems than they solve. You lose tire clearance, and put tremendous loads into the shock towers and a rubber upper mount that were never designed to take that much load. Plus you can get an endless supply of whatever spring size you want and get weight jacks to fit the stock spring pockets so you get the same adjustability that you get with weight jacks.
In a nut shell, you can get all the bonuses of coil overs with none of the drawbacks by going with circle track springs and weight jacks.

What are weight jacks?? i have to drive my car in the winter (hopefully i'll get a diff DD) and i want to be able to put it back to stock ride height. Thats why the coil overs looked good. would i still be able to do that with circle track springs and weight jacks?? Also how would the car handle??

Weight jacks -- http://www.ground-control-store.com
The Ground Control Coil-Over, os not what is typically thought of, as a coil-over. It does not replace your shocks, they stay where they are.

It's my understanding, they don't require any mods to the rear shocks or mounts in any way.
I had a friend who had Ground Control as an autocross sponsor, and he loved the weight jacks.
I've always wanted them, but have no extra money to get them.

Weight jacks are nothing more than an adjustable spring seat that will allow you to adjust your ride height with a 1/2" drive breaker bar. http://www.speedwaymotors.com/p/3386...ssemblies.html
These are generic ones that I've fabbed into place on various cars. They are dirt cheap, but there are premade drop in kits made for thirdgens.
Just a word to the wise, running stiff springs in the slick stuff is a recipe for disaster. If you have to drive the maro run a set of summer and winter springs along with dedicated tires for each season.

275/40/17 and with a Spohn Coilover kit with 325lb springs. There is atleast a good 1/4" clearance with 2" spacers between the tire and spring.
Sorry dont have any of it on the ground yet. Its been raining for a few days arround here.

Re: Ground Control Coil over kit.
i would like to see a few pics of it on the ground... did you have to put spacers in in order to make the tires fit???? so if i bought coil overs i would have to buy spacers for my wheels to get them to fit?

Re: Ground Control Coil over kit.
Well, no pics on the ground cause as I said in the previous post, it has been raining the past few days arround here. Even still, with the way that the car is up in the air, it is like it is on the ground anyways.
The reason for the spacers, I'm running fourth gen rims on a thirdgen. There is about a 2" differance in backspacing on them.
