Re: new rear suspension

Not something I've looked in to, but I know Spohn sales a kit, maybe others. Like I've said, I've not looked in to it, but I don't see advantages to it.

As 91_5.7_TPI alluded to there can be advantages and disadvantages to a coil over rear. The F-Body does have a few geometry/design quirks for both front and rear suspensions but they can be solved with less expensive means. You should weigh all alternatives, even airbags, and go with what you intend to use your car for.

Re: new rear suspension

I think that for the money, you could get good results by staying with the factory set-up and just spend the money on GOOD shocks, springs, sway bar and aftermarket linkages. For the $550, you could do rear KONIs ($210), sway bar (free - $180), and order a set of springs to your specs.
But, like I said, I've not really looked into the advantages/disadvantages of a coil-over vs conventional....although, I'm pretty sure from personal experience on several cars, our style is easier to work on than coil-overs.

Re: new rear suspension

How much money are you looking to spend? All told, I have about $1600-1700 in my suspension (LCAs, PHB, wonder bar, sway bars, springs and shocks). My set-up could use some work in some areas, but it is a pretty fun set-up (I just need better tires).

Re: new rear suspension

That's what I did. I started with the wonder bar about two years ago and went from there.

First thing I would do is sub frame connectors. I'm ordering a set of Spohns soon (yea...I needed them for a while). They'll stiffen the car up and make it a better platform for cornering.

Then, shocks and struts (along with new strut mounts; Spohn or J&M Products makes good ones). Don't cheap out here, shocks and struts are very important. Hotpart.com (J&M's site) has the cheapest prices on KONIs (other than maybe getting lucky on eBay) that I've found.

You'll want to get a good set of tires as well, just as important as shocks/struts... I got a set of 17x9s to run my sticky tires on in the summer and I have some all seasons on the stockers for the rest of the time. The stickier the tire, the faster they'll wear out...my BFGs lasted 11 months.

Later, good performance springs, sway bars, control arms, pan hard bar, etc will help you along, but the most bang for the buck can most likely be found in the top 3. Plus, the larger stock sway bars can be found pretty cheap and are effective (I plan to run 36/21or22, for example). Not telling you what order to get things in, just what seems to be most effective from personal experience.
