I just got my 89 Gta Running after sitting for 7 years !! Its almost done. But im having a hell of a time trying to figure out what tires to put on it.
And it seems every tire I like, the tire guys say thier crap ! very fustrating! I think is a sales pich but, Im leaving it up to the experts, YOU GUYS! I live in New England so I need an all season tire, The car has NEVER been in the snow, and I would like to keep it that way but, if I'm forced to do so I need a good tire. theese are the tires I have my eye on.
Continental extreme contact, Bridgestone potenza re960 re Pole position, Bridgestone potenza 009g, yokohama V4 and a cople of others. PLEASE!!! youre opinion would help alot, and prevent me from going crazy !!!!

both of the bridgestone tires you listed are both very good tires. i would lean to the g009. very good tires.

I have the Potenza G009. I have driven them in the snow (on something of an ice sheet actually). It was so slick that as soon as I let off the brake (automatic trans, and didn't touch the gas) the rear wheels started spinning. I managed to very carefully get the car moving and drove it sideways about a 1/4 mile til I got off the ice. It was kinda hairy, but the tires did fine. Not something I would have thought possible.

They are also pretty good in dry and rain. Not as good as the BFGoodrich g-Force Sports for traction (wet or dry) I had, but they have wore alot better and that's something I need. And I don't think I'd be driving the BFGs in the snow.

Another tire you might consider are the Sumitomo HTR-H4's.I have them on my '83 Z28(235/55HR-16)and they handle very well and give a decent ride with low noise.They have a 400 treadwear rating with A traction and A temp rating.I bought them from Tirerack after going thru all the different tires looking at ratings and considering how/when i drive her.

i live in quebec get good winter tire on a set plane rim like 205 60 16
and add 60/90 lb of baged crush stone in the trunk for the traction bigger tire will rase the clerence and for sommer tire go wild i got 245/50/16 zr hercules in hope that the last
one sommer my winter tire are michelin alpin ice got 4 winter on them not a dent on my car !! and i drift to work every day all this is to say if you plan to
drive in snow

with wide !tire belive me forget !! it wide in winter tel you its damm fun to play in snow wit a fbody but dont get stuck

I have cooper tires on my GTA and they are great in the rain, but not to sure about in the snow. Because, TN doesn't get too much snow. I think they are Cooper Snakeskins, not to sure though, but man do they look good against the gold crosslace wheel.

I had cooper cobras once..............once. I diddent like them, Almost cracked my car up on the first rain! But the car was an escort . I think half of the problem was I was driving a ford product!

Hey guys, just ordered the potenza g009's. got a little while till I get it on the road though. I got most of the parts, and still have to register it. Ill let you guys know how they are. again thanks for the info

I just got them in while I was worlikng on the brakes. Nice looking tread.
Now if I dont go nutty with the brake system im good to go. Quick question, anyone have trouble bleeding thier brakes? I just had time yesterday to replace pads rotors and calipers and I couldent bleed them, the brake peadel is rock hard but does move slowly. And some fluid comes out the drivers side but nothing on the passenger side. I even took the hoses off the caliper and tried to gravity bleed them. I think its ither the brake hoses or the master cylender is frozen. the car has been sitting for 6 or 7 years on pavement, the metal lines look awsome, and I havent touched the back calipers yet. Monday is another day to go insane LOL . Any help would be awsome, Thanks!!!

Mine had Cobras on when I got it. Absolutely awful tyres in the wet and not great in the dry. I'm now running Pirelli zero rossos on the front and Toyo Proxes on the back. I did get them real cheap on fleabay though. Difference is like night and day. Both are very sticky with a short life, but I only do maybe 2k miles a year so they'll last a while.
