Rear sits crooked, solution?

Rear sits crooked, solution?

I only noticed it after I installed my pro-kit springs and KYB Gr-2's, but I think my car has always sat crooked in the rear. The wheel gap, and distance from GFX to the ground both show the drivers side sits 2-4 inches higher than the driver side. I put the springs/shocks in probably 6 months ago, but Its just now starting to aggrivate me enough to look into it. Now, would getting an adjustable panhard rod be able to do anything? Is it possible my frame is tweaked? Maybe my control arms or rear end housing? Those tires were only on for a week, waaaay to big for my liking, but they show the difference the best. Im just making sure after i put all this money into my car this winter (383, 6-speed, rear end, new suspension, and paint) that im not gonna find out my car is always gonna sit crooked, it bothers me that much.

KM, if you mean sitting "cocked to one side" when you say crooked, it could be that either you didn't install your springs in the same alignment to one another (coil / spring end should point in the same directions) or you have a weaker shock possibly on one side? I'm no suspension expert but I believe that an adjustable panhard rod will move your rear end left to right to center the rear and not neccessarily adjust the up and down on one side. Suspension experts chime in if I'm off.

It may be that one of the springs isn't seated properly or that one of the isolators is somehow misaligned in the pocket (I ususally tape mine to the spring to avoid that diffiuculity).

I forgot about the isolators (big rubber donuts) They have the spring / coil end indentation where it should mate up to the spring. If that's not in there right you'll see it in your ride height.

it was a few months back that i did the suspension, so i dont remember exactly but i thought i only remembered donuts in the front, but i will definitely check it out. Would it be better just to remove them all together?

KM, NO!! Unless you like rattles and every other noise metal on metal produces. Those donuts center the coils on the frame. You need those. Think of it this way, OEM's (GM) are cheap and if they feel something is optional on a design (spring isolators "donuts") then they'd either charge you for it as an option or leave it out all together.

same problem plus tire gap

Hey i posted under a diffrent post that i replaced the pan hard rods uper and lower and corrected the problem in my 82 but my car has the 3rd gen twists but fixed it to 1/2 inc of factory. enjoy it they tell me it gets worse with horse power.
