big tire question

whats the fattest tallest tires you have managed to fit on a 91-92 camaro, v6 springs mind you, soon to have traction bars and maybe eibach 1.5 lowering springs, sub box in the back, what do you think i could fit under there width wise without scrubbing and height wise without scrubbing on a good launch. im looking to swap in a 350 maybe bore & stroke it bigger cam and some other stuff. pushin like 380hp to the wheels. i want to launch and hook without scrubbing and im also probally putting 18's on it. maybe 18's front and 16's rear if i can find a good enough tire. so question plain and simple. whats the fattest tallest tire you can fit under the camaro without it scrubbing on the side walls or the top of the fender well without tubbing?

You CAN put a 295 35 18 on a 18 x 10 rim with a 6.75" backspace. You would have to look at your rear brake setup as the backspace may be too much for stock brakes but will work with a Bear setup. With stock brakes go with a 6 or 6.25" bs.

you don't even have the option of tubing the rear unless you completely change your rear suspension. - Traction bars? Have you looked at your rear suspension yet?

- anyhow, I believe the above is correct for 18's. - I'm running a 315/35/17, with eibach sportlines on a 17x11 wheel, but if I were any lower it could/would rub the wheel well lip on compression.

- do a search, tire/wheel fitment has been gone over more times than anyone will re-post. - There's even a sticky at the top of the board about it.....

man also.. remeber if this is a daily driver.. get a bit of meet on those sidewalls. my rims are only 16s.. and i would never change them to 17 or 18.. now thats personal chose like everything in the car world, i ran my car at 240 kmh and i had no vibrations... thats really imprsive. my friends car prelude has 19 with almost no side wall.. at 140 kph i felt like tehre was no suspension... keep that in mind to when you shoose your tires

that also has A LOT to do with the tire itself. I have better handling and have had zero change in ride quality with my 17's. Those little rubber bands they put on the "import car" 18+ inchers are a very different make up than your standard 245/45. Vibration is all in balance, no matter the wheel size. Roughness can increase with smaller sidewalls, but not neccessarily, depending on tire construction. Another MAJOR issue with many of the larger wheels is weight. Heavy wheels take more hp to pull, and also react more drastically to road conditions. - thats part of the reason I choose billet wheels. My 17x11, 315/35 rear combo is actually less weight than my factory 16x8, 245/50 combo.
