understanding springs

ok, im young and learning, so for you odl gurues of cars out there, teach the young... what does progressive springs mean? im looking at getting the B&G Sport Springs for my car and they have a medium spring rate:
Front: 811
Rear: 134

what does that mean?

anywho are these good lowering springs, im on a budget, and well i only want 1-1.5 inch lower?

Car: 91 Camaro RS(RealSlow)
Engine: 3.1L
Transmission: 700R4

im sure the 811 and the 134 is referring to the spring rate.
it means that every 811lbs thats on the spring, the spring compresses 1inch.
usually the front is higher in number than the rear since the front part of car is heavier with engine and other stuff being there.

now progressive rate, means that the rate of spring changes
depending on the load of the car.
im not totally sure but its like
500lbs/per inch until specific point, then it changes to like
700lbs/per inch.. or something like that.

just picture a spring with uneven gap between each circle,
thus giving u variety of spring rate.

hope it explained..
