there’s a tire shop around here that has a good deal on a set of firestone Indy 500 firehawks the only size they have is 235/70 16 just wondering if they would fit alright or if I should go with something a little smaller for my formula its not lowered it actually sits kinda high, I saw at The Tire Rack - Your performance experts for tires and wheels they have a 235/55 but at almost $100 a tire I would rather go with the 235/70 for $65 a piece that the tire shop has if they will fit

70 series tires are for like a light truck, like an S10 blazer. I dont think you could even fit em in the wheel well. Stay around the 50 or 55 series tires. The smaller the profile, then usually the higher the price. And honestly I think it would look kinda goofy with that tall of a tire.

yea I was thinking they might look kind of goofy, what size tire do you guys suggest I get? have a 225/60 that came on the car but I want something wider. Would a 245/50 – 60 be a good tire?

it depends on what wheel you got. Tirerack.com should tell you what the stock size is. I know for IROCS its like 245/55 16 or 50, I cant remember off the top of my head. If its an 8" wide wheel, Id go with 245. 255's will stick out just a hair over the wheel lip.
EDIT: Tirerack is showing an 88 T/A to be 245/50 16

i found a set of kumho High Performance Summer tires on tirerack for $50 a tire since im in highschool and i have to pay for them i think thats what all go with. they should be a hell of alot better than the 225/60's that came on the car, the only thing good about these 225/60's tires is i can burn them all day long and i could care less about them
heres the link to the tires let me know what you think
Kumho ECSTA 711
not a bad price for some 245/50's

225 on an 8" rim?? That would look weird as hell. And I dont think you could fit 265 on them either. Just make it easy on yourself and make it one size all the way around. At least that way you could kinda rotate them. Just swap the fronts to the rears every once in a while (unless you got fvcked up wheels like IROCs, I cant rotate mine ever!)
That tire is actually the exact same I had on my Eclipse. They are kinda hard so you will spin ALOT easier, or maybe about the same, as you 225s u got now. My Mitsu only pushes 120hp to the wheels, but I could smoke the hell outa the kum-hos. They good and cheap, Id go with em,
