The Kumho Ecsta AST cost a little more, but they also have better treadwear, a lot better rain sipe design and stiffer sidewalls.

i paid 60 each for mine in Miss. thats the best i could find without shipping them to me. so that price sounds good. Tire has crappy tread wear i go though a set every 3 to 5 months depending on how much i drag them.

I have some new 245/50R16 Kumho ECSTA 711 for my GTA.
All i have to say is that i was really displeased with these tires. The sidewalls are too soft and on a turn the lar leans into it.
The price sounds good to me.
I cant remember what i paind for mine

I got a set of these a 6 weeks ago. Traction seems pretty good, of course we'll see how good at the track. But like it was said above, sidewall stiffness leaves much to be desired. My old bald tires handled much better. I can't complain though, at $320 shipped, road hazzard, and installed, it's a deal to have 4 brand new tires.
The tread design isn't horrible, but next to a GSC, COMP T/A or something like that, what isn't ugly.

They came on the 92RS I bought last year. I find them to be good wearing but tend to follow any imperfection in the road which is a little anoying.Out here in L.A. I have seen them sell for $108 ea installed.

have a set on my 'bird, they're nice, but i opted for the spt's on the 'maro . . . much better! they're w rated instead of h so the sidewalls are a lot stiffer, and forward traction is great too(i was on some balding mid-level tires and spinning into third, yuck) i can almost go full throttle into second at peak tq(not quite though).

Any updates on AST's or 711's? I'm considering both, and would like some first hand opinions.
Thanks,
KZad

Hey KZad, I replied on the 711's back on August 31st. Since then I have done numerous acceleration tests and they seem to hold up. Treadwear is pretty good. I can see these tires lasting longer than anticipated. And they have widened with age a little bit. I remember putting them on and they looked skinny. Which was weird because when they arrived at my door they looked massively wide. Cornering isn't there best suit. I do wish I sprung another $100 for some V or W-rated tires.
But like I said about them back in August, for $320 shipped, M&B, and with road hazzard, they are a great buy.

I think they should do you well with the lo3. I bought a set from tire rack because they were cheap, just cant get traction with mine though. They are pretty decent tires, I just can't get on it. I'm getting some mt street radials for the rear now and keeping the kumho's up front.

I completly agree with the sidewalls. I have them installed on my Z and they have too much sidewall flex for the tire they are advertised as.. however, I cannot complain about the price and they have lasted me a year. A great buy if you want a cheap tire that works.
