Step on gas = BIG LOUD NOISE

there is a big bang whenever I accelerate, unless I drive like a grandma. I'm thinking something loose in the rear end or driveshaft or something like that, but I am not familiar with the underpinnings of the car...yet...

Its like a bushing is gone or something like that...

1992 Camaro RS 5.0 TBI, auto trans

Any help appreciated!

I think I found the solution here:

https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/susp...ise+accelerate

I guess I should have searched before posting...

Car: 91 RS
Engine: 350 TBI
Transmission: WC T5
Axle/Gears: 3.42 Posi
Turn your head 90 degress and look out the passenger side window and make the bang. Your turned head will allow you to better tell which direction its coming from, transmission, driveshaft, rear end, etc. Does sound like a transmission mount though. Do searching and you will find all kinds of ways to test it.

I put a new trans mount on yesterday. That was exactly the problem. The car doesn't make that noise anymore, but also it accelerates better. I guess I'm not wasting power twisting the drivetrain around under the car anymore.

Thanks for the help.

Car: 85 Z28
Engine: GM crate ZZ4 w/ fast burn heads
Transmission: TH350
i have experienced this same problem on a couple of my third gen's, it's a fairly easy/ inexpensive repair... another problem that i have noticed with these 3rd gens is broken sway bar end links, when turning the outside rear corner of the car lifts higher than usual and you can hear the sway bar banging underneath the car, also an easy/ inexpensive repair...

Car: 1982 Trans-Am
Engine: 355 w/ ported 416s
Transmission: T10, hurst shifter
Axle/Gears: 10 bolt, true-trac, 3.73
I think I might have this problem. It's not too bad, however.

is there any way to rule out the tranny mount? I mean, I've got a new poly TA mount, new u-joints, so I think that's the only thing left (other than loose bolts, which I did find only 1 out of 3 TA to trans bolts last time ).
is there a test though? The mount *looks* ok to me...

out of curiosity, poly or rubber? I've got a t-10 trans, and I don't want to shake my hand off while trying to shift, due to too hard of a mount.
