Front lower control arm bushing advice

I need some help with removing my bushings on the front a-arms. The smaller bushing is too small for my ball joint remover. Is there a better way to get these out?

Also....when I put these bushings back in, do I have to wait to torque the bolts with the car on the ground? or can I tighten them while its on jack stands, for both the front and rear control arms.

Thanks

It make a whole lot more sense, to get new LCAs, rather than dink around with the stock sheet-metal crap that you can bend with your hands.

Get some Lakewood ones or something. Cheap, HIGHLY effective, vastly superior to the flimsy stock ones.

I already have the rears done, but I will prolly get the Lakewoods later on.

I don't have $400+ for new tubular a-arms, so I must re-use the old ones. I'm just having a hell of a time getting the old bushings out.

Oh I'm sorry, I thought you were asking about the front bushings on the rear arms, I evidently didn't read very carefully.... my bad... guess I had a stupid moment for a change....

Try a hack saw; split the bushing shell with it, it'll come right out.

Sometimes it is easier to just let a shop do them. At times I've done that. IIRC the last time I did these bushings I had to get creative. Heavy washers, pieces of pipe, stuff like that. Was still a PITA.

Once back on the car, yes, need to be tightened once it is back down on the ground. At least for rubber bushings. Heim ended can be tightened in the air. I believe poly can be tightened in the air also, as they as supposed to spin, not twist.

RBob.
