235/60/R15 on a Z28/RS wheels

Ok guys I want to run BFG Radial T/A tires on my RS. I have the 1990 15 inch stock RS/Z28 wheels. The tire size is P235/60/R15. I just wanted to know how well these will fit and if it will throw off my speedo any. Thanks guys.

235s will be fine. As suggestion, I'd go 255 in the rear. I think they look better and they give nice handling and traction. The speedo will be very slightly off (at 60 mph, ur speedo will read something like 59.8).

This recent thread talks all about this issue.

235/60 is a standard upgrade size for 215/65. Most people go to them when they get new tires on the stock rims. I have them in the back.

Yup, they fit great. Probably the all-around best tire size for those wheels. They're about as wide as you can go before you start getting the hot-air-baloon effect. You'll find that there's more difference in the speedo by going from one brand of tire to another, or going from bald tires to new tires of the same brand & model, or going from 25 psi to 35 psi, than going from 215/65 to 235/60.

nice handling
How could oversized tires on a rim that was designed for a 215 width tire give good handling? I didn't think 255 were that good for cornering when being used on a smaller wheel?

buy 16x8 iroc wheels w/ 255/50r16 tires and have superior handling and traction and looks then the 15" with 235width

255s made a huge difference over the 215s. I can floor it into hard turns and not wip out the tail end, like the 215s did. Non-performance related, I've got lots of compliments on the looks of them.

Yeah I want some IROC rims, but the rims and tires are to expensive for me right now considering I might want to buy a clutch.

the 235/60/15's fit and work great on the 15x7 rs/z28 wheels. and had you looked down the page about 7-8 topics, you'd have noticed another topic on this very same thing and found that out for yourself.
