Fitting 19's...Tires Profiles???

you cant search for 19 and its a pretty rare size so i need to ask before i drop over a grand on tires...

can anyone give me some insight (pics would be amazing) of tire profiles for 19" wheels?

i plan to run a 245/35/19 up front (25.8" overall diameter) and 285/30/19 out back (25.7" overall diameter) on 8.5" and 9.5" wheels. these choices keep the overall diameter as close to stock as i can get but if i need to go with a 40 series up front and a 35 out back to get rid of the rubber band look i will.
the car will be dropped hopefully enough to make the wheels look alright but i dont want to look like i ride on rubber bands.

does anyone have any pictures of 19's and their tires?
or pics of 19's possibly on other cars wrapped with these profile tires (long shot i know)?

ok man im gonna help you out bc not many on here are gonna about this type of thing

first off go to Tire Dimensions Made Simple - Discount Tire Co.

there use the calculator and you can see exactly what the sidewall height will measure plus you can put your front size and rear size up and see all the comparison

anything above 30 for the aspect ratio should be fine...now my measurements are diff but ill be doing 255 35 18 up front and 295 30 19 out back on my car and its .3" off from perfection...but thats just my setup

oh and btw search for used tires on ebay (just type 245 35 19 in the search bar)...you can pick up a nice set of tires or two pairs that have 70-80% of the treadlife and no damage whatsoever for around 3 to 400 bucks all together...instead of 1000

You've already done the necessary calculations to determine fitment, the wheel diameter does not matter, overall wheel/tire height is what matters. But I dont understand your comments about rubber band tires. If you dont want that look I dont understand why you want to go with the large diameter wheels. You can run bigger sidewall tires on the large diameter wheels but this will increase the potential for rubbing or contact, basically the tires will be taller than stock. There used to be a member here with a teal 92 RS with a LS1 swap and 19's, I believe his member name was Flynlow92RS (but not 100% sure). He had pictures of his car on 19's with oversized tires. He also had rubbing issues. My advice, if you dont want to run 35 and 30 series tires, dont go with huge diameter wheels, step it down to 18's or even 17's.

godspeed...thanks for that link. ebay would be nice but you never know what you are getting plus finding a shop to mount and balance expensive 19" wheels and tires that they didnt sell you anything from is a chore.

uncle creepy...those wheels look nice, ive never seen them before. how wide are they? also, has that car been lowered at all? stock springs?

crazy...its funny you mention him. i was just in the middle of a search for 19's and looking at his car when my (this) post came up and i saw it had replies.
he is running too tall of tires (27" in front and 27.7" out back) IMO and they dont look all that great.

ive got 17's now and need new wheels. I dont feel steeping up 1" is worth it and am sure I will love the way these look, just trying to get all my bases covered. I dont have a problem with small sidewalls a bit, i just hope my drop will make them look correct.

my main problem is just physically seeing these tires on 19" wheels (doesnt have to be thirdgen) so i can get a feel for how they will look.

Thanks, glad you like them.
They are Kosei RS wheels, 8.5" wide. It are FWD wheels (ET35).
I had to have 25MM spacers made for them to fit.
My car is lowered (1" drop Suspension Techniques springs with yellow Koni's).
I would have liked more than 1" lowering, but these were the only V6 springs i could find (yes, it's a V6).

I'm going to be honest here - and its by no means a bash or flame.

Thirdgens are not cars that react well to ultra low profile tires at all - they start skipping over small bumps and the ride becomes worse than a truck. the optimal size for handling is a 275-40-17 on all 4 corners. You can go to an 18" wheel if you want a harsh ride with the "tuner" look, but I can't recommend it.

well after looking at tires..a lot...and tire prices ive decided to go with a 275 out back instead of a 285. this should save me $300.

i still dont know if the sidewall will look funky if i get 35 series up front and 30 out back...i might get 40 series up front and 35 out back (26.58 and 26.72 overall diameters for those)

i like uncle creepys wheels but IMO the sideall just doesnt look "right" unless the car was dropped more...i will have intrax springs but i dont know if that will be ebough drop to make the smaller 35 and 30 series sidewalls look right

any input...i need a poll

i think that sidewall uncle has looks perfect for the rim...i think you need to try ebay still bc if you ask the right questions you cant get screwed and they do list any damages in most cases ...so if you shop smart...look at feedbacks etc. then you wont get screwed...285s are a good choice bc they are more common...there are very few choices for 295 19..if you want brand new tires your looking at 3-400 a tire for 19s and thats NOT installed or balanced

you could get the full set for 400-500 and pay 100 bucks for install and balance MAX at discount tire so 600 bucks as opposed to 1400 bucks give or take...im just giving you advice if you are set on brand new go for it man

good luck i hope you picked rims with a LIP plz dont get rims with no lip
oh and thirdgens ride shatty enough as it is putting 19s arent gonna make it that much worse

Your going to rub with a 26.xx inch tire and any kind of decent drop...I'd go with the 35 out front and 30 out back.

yea i figured that...ill go with the 30 and 35 then. i can get a set of 275's and 245's around $800. a local place will mount and balance for $65.

what im looking at are the bridgestone potenza RE750's...anyone heard anything about them???

or i was thinking about something along the lines of this...not the cheapest tire but defenitly budget minded.
eBay Motors: 19" Tires 275-30-19 & 245-35-19 Hankook K104 (item 8052834431 end time Apr-11-06 08:28:40 PDT)
i can save $125 with these or spend more for the potenzas

Here's my 2 cents......by going down in rear tire size from a 285 to 275/30/19 you go from a sidewall height of 85.5 to 82.5 mm and your front size is 245/35/19 giving you a 85.75 mm sidewall height. If it were me, I would try to keep the front and rear sidewall heights as close as possible and since you're running a 19" wheel I would run as much tire as possible, therefore I would stay with the 285's to give you a little more height and it will give you're wheels/tires a good look when you compare the front to the rears.

I am considering 19's as well, so please post pics when you get the tires!

ill defenitly post some pics. it looks as if im going to have to machie about 1/4" off my spacers since it sticks out a little much for me. ill still have to roll me fenders it looks like...
id rather have 285's too but there are very limited choices of a 285/30/19 and matching 245/35/19. if i go with 275's i can save a lot and have a much wider selection (...KDW's...)

19's look amazing when done right. shawn18jgr is running 19's up front and 20's out back. the 19's look perfect to me. but then there are cars tat run 18's perfectly like Grabiod's old car...only time will tell.
