Am I hurting myself by keeping the stock springs?
I was wondering if I am hurting myself by keeping the stock springs.
My current suspension upgrades that I'm currently doing are: KYB GR-2 struts, Gas a just shocks, 36/24mm sway bars with polyurethane bushings, 1le end links, lower control arm poly bushings front and rear, wonderbar, all new MOOG tie rod ends, sleeves, centerlink, ball joints, idler arm, and polyurethane tie rod end boots.
I do not want to lower my car, but Im still not sure if I should get stock replacement springs. they seem fine, still have the proper ride height.
I'm excited to see how the car handles when I get it all together. I just got the car this past summer and the struts and shocks were bad, along with my tie rod ends and ball joints, so it handled horribly.
Think it should out-handle my 280ZX?...(all stock except KYB struts and poly bushings.)

I have the 5662/5665 moog spring combo (1le/ws6?) All moog steering, are poly bushing, kyb gr2, etc.
I never got a chance to drive it before the changes. Id had great feel, and once i changed to the Poly/rod rear suspension, made a huge difference. havent installed my SFC.
But you should feel a difference compared to worn junk. As far as out handle the 280... might need a little more work if its "new" on the z too

It may depend on what stock suspnesion you have. A lot of people with RPO F41 (SUSPENSION SYSTEM, FRT, RR, FIRM RIDE, HANDLING ) keep their stock springs when they upgrade thier suspension. I personally like the ride height of the RS F41 springs. The front sits low and rear slightly higher than front, giving an aggressive stance. Upgrading to new shocks will most definetly make it handle a ton better, especially if you have the F41 suspension package. I have the F41, completely stock except for new swaybar endlinks, and the car rides and handles great. 109,000 on the odo.

I am using my stock 87K WS6 springs with new rubber isolators and the car is very stiff. I am also using my F41 86K Springs on my GF's 89 RS with a 355 TPI. With good shocks, struts and suspension components stock springs will work good.
