how bigga tire
Im putting in a th350 in my car, and right now i have 215/60's on it(I hate that metric crap). Im gonna put bigger tires in the back to help ring the revs down a lil since in losing overdrive, and i have 3:73s in the back and this car is my daily driver.I want to know whats the biggest tires I can fit in the back with out it rubbing. Does anybody have a well sorted fron and rear comboa that looks good?

i'm running a 205/70/15 up front and a 275/60/15(28"tall) out back, both on the 15x7" z28 wheels.

they are 15x7's with 4.25" backspacing. but if your going to be getting new wheels, i'd run either a 15x8 with 4.5" backspacing on the rear or a 15x10 wtih 5.5" backspacing on the rear.

The rims im getton are only available in 15x7 and 15x8. I want the rear tires to poke out just a lil over stock, so with the tires you are running, what kinda backspacing would you suggest for the rear?

15x8 with a 4.5" backspacing will set them RIGHT inside the fender lip. you'll be happy, i promise. get the 15x7's for the front with a 4" backspace if they have it in that with a 205/70/15 tire up front. the perfect size in my opinion.

use the 275/60/15 tire out back and a 205/70/15 tire up front. it will give it a slight rake.

I'd use a 235/60-15 in the front or atleast a 225/60-15. I don't really know why you would want a narrow tall sidewall tire. Talk about mushy.

i'm running it for the roll out and less rolling resistance at the track, and it looks cool, and it fills up the front fender since it's about 26.5" tall. i like it.
oh, i'm also running manual steering, so it helps with that a BUNCH over the 235/60/15 tire i used to run up front.

Sorry i really didn't mean you. I know why you have them. I was mainly just talking about a street driven car sports car, not drag racing.

235/60-15 is a 26.1" tall tire.

sorry for asking a question in your thread but i am going to buy a set of drag slicks and was wondering if a 29x9x15 will fit. I know that the width will fit, i just was wondering about the diameter or height of the tire. Do yall think it will rub or anything or should i just go 28"? Thanks

IHI is running a 29.5x9 hoosier slick without many issues. i think you have to do some "massaging" to the inner fender well down on the front.

Tire
With your wheel sizes of 7X15 and 8X15 you want 235/60/15 and 245/50/15. Good street tires in these sizes are 235/60/15 Pirelli P600 and 245/50/15 Dunlop Sp Sport 8000.

I just found out I can only get the rims i want in a 4" backspace. Will this make the rear tires rub the inner fender with the 275?60's?Also, has anyone ever used yokohama avid st tirs, cuz for the value, I think thats what ima get, beacuse i can find the kuhmos that i want in the right sizes.

The 245/50/15 Dunlop Sp Sport 8000 will out handle a 275/60/15 Yokohoma or Kuhmos. In a straight line the 275/60 is probably better, don't know.

Wheels and Tires?
You can't get 2 P235/60/15 Pirelli P600 and 2 245/50/15 Dunlop Sp Sport 8000 and 4 wheels for $ 500. You can buy the tires with $500 and find some more money for the wheels.

well then, i guess he won't be going with a pirelli tire then, huh? he's already said he's not really going for handling and that he's in need of the large rollout of the taller tire...2 205/70/15 used tires can be had for $40, no need for brand new on that tire, they are MORE than plentiful in good shape.(they came standard on nearly every mid-sized sedan with a 15" wheel.) 2 275/60/15 tires can be had for $175 mounted/balanced from pep-boys. so your up to $215. they you have another $285 for wheels, yeah, he'll probably need alittle more cash, but since the wheels he's getting seem to be so limited on size and backspacing, i'm gonna assume he's getting some type of cheapo wheel. so probably not much more cash.
for $300, you can find a good set of four used draglites or prostars on ebay.

The wheels and tires are outta summit. The rims are cragar series 340's, which i think will look good on a ta.for 4 it comes to 208, then the tires are the yokohama avid st's, 264 brand new for the set so tthats 472, then summit will mount em, rtv balancing (thier own specia thing), and new valve stems for all for just 10 and tire. So thats 512, for an all new tire and rim package.Which is about the best deal i have scrounged up yet.

eh...i'd look on ebay and see what you can find before buying those wheels. they really don't look that good on our cars, and they are HEAVY steel.

Telstars are going for pretty cheap now, i think you can get a set from summit for about $500 if your willing to wait on tires, but who wants to wait

I would just keep my old rims, since there aluminum and they look good, but the have some serious curb rash on a couple of em. They are mangels 5 spokes, the same as the eagle 5 spokes. Someone even told me thats what eagle alloys use to be called, i unno. How much weight would be saved using aluminum rims verses steel?
