Sway Bar Opinions
OK, I've looked at 5 local junkyards and did not find any IROCs. I was going to get the larger sway bars.
I really don't have money to buy brand new ones, so do you guys think my 34mm and 21mm will be just fine with the ES bushings?
I'm also adding a wonderbar on the front to help out too.

Some Camaros 89-92 and some Firebirds 86-92 were equipped with the hollow 36, solid 24 combo. The bars still may be available from GM: 36mm is 14094344; the 24mm is 10035033. FYI, my 85 IROC originally came with a solid 34/24 combo. If you found five IROCs, you should have harvested a wonderbar.

E-bay man, just be sure to be very specific about the size of the bar you want and hollow/solid, dont worry what Model swaybar the seller calls it (WS6, 1LE, etc). I remember when I first got into 3rd gens I bid on an E-bay auction for WS6 rear swaybar for cheap and the punk sent me a stock rear swaybar from a base model and tried to tell me it came from a WS6. If I had been exact about the thickness he wouldnt have had any room to try screw me over.

Find out if your bar is solid or hollow. If it is solid and 34mm it will be similar in stiffness to a 36mm hollow. In the rear the 21mm solid is a good bar for most applications. In auto cross many of the top national competitors are using the 22mm hollow bar (aftermarket) which is almost the same stiffness as your 21mm bar. Your combo should be good not great but good. With money tight I would not put money into an aftermarket bar. Your limited funds would be better spent on shocks/struts, a STB and solid strut bushings. For shocks/struts wait until you can buy some high quality ones (Koni SA, Bilstien, Tokico Illumina)

What was the thickness on the front swaybars on an 89 WS6?? I measured it at 36mm and a friend of mine came up with just under 40mm. I seem to remember 36mm being a commonly used number, never heard of 40mm (he actually came up with 39.7mm) before, or have I just missed something??
This is so I can order some new swaybar bushings, so I'd like to get it right the first time.
