Anybody using CE bolt in ladder bars?

I just ordered up Competition Engineering's c3111 bolt in subframe connecters, and they offer bolt in ladder bars for it(part # c2110). So I got them to. It eleminates the torque arm. Is this a good setup, or should I return it(ladder bars)? It is a drag only car that will run low 10s.

I've never used them or saw them in use but from what I HEAR they are junk... I believe CE actually discontinued them because they simply dont work.

Just what I hear though... I guess the only way you're gonna find out is by being a guinea pig and using them. I'd love to know for sure how they perform.

CE still makes them. They said they are a good piece. I guess I will try them, and if they suck I will send them back.

I bought a set in 1992 with the frame connectors. Not many choice back then.

I bolted them up the front mounting point for the lower control arms is more forward than the stock location. Would take away anti squat in my opinion.

Anyway the bolted to the axle via the shock mount and the stock rear location on the axle.

I did not like the way they looked and there was no adjustment for "preload" I put them on and never disconnected my torque arm. This basicly eliminated the ability of the rear end to move up and dwn due to the fact that it was in a bind. The mounting points that attached via the shock to the rear end housing broke in short order. So I essentially had a stock suspension with longer lower control arms.

My set was far from percesion made and I don't know how you would set pinion angle or adust it in any way. You essentially had a lower control arm with no rear piviot. Also one side was always in a bind since there was no adjustment to level the arms with each other.

I would not go this rout.

HOWEVER, the frame connectors were good and slill on the car now. I bolted them in and then welded them.

MAKES it very difficult to run exaust as there is now no room for a CAT in the stock location and the exhaust has to be run over the connectors making the exaust about 3 inches off the ground with stock ride height.

There are probably beter fram connectors now which will allow fro exaust clearenc.

In a race only ap should be ok.

hope this rambling helped

Thanks. I am going to send back the ladder bars, and try the sub fram connectors. They seem the strongest sub fram connectors out there.
