Tire Review - Falken Ziex ZE512
Put a set of these on my 87 Firebird Formula. 245/50R-16 97H B Purchased them mostly because there was a lack of negative comments about these tires, they were inexpensive compared to other options, and they were available through Discount Tire.
In 10 days, put over 3000 miles on them. Driving conditions ran from sunny and dry pavement through torrential downpours from the remenants of Arlene (the tropical storm that hit Floriday and points north between 6/11 and 6/13.)
I must say that I'm very pleased with these tires. They were quiet, and held the road very well. Light rain didn't bother these at all, and even the torential downpours didn't faze them, most of the time. Did hydroplane a little once, but there was about 1-2 inches of standing water during one of the tropical outbursts in Florida. I was starting to slow down when the rain went from heavy to couldn't see in front of the car. As soon as I slowed down, the tires gripped and I never lost control of the car.
I'll be taking the Firebird to the track in a week or two, and will report back on traction on the strip. In a little street testing I did, I couldn't get the tires to break loose, where the old ratty tires would smoke with no problems.

I just got my 512's installed a couple weeks ago.. went to NTB and had them price match discount tire so I wouldnt have to fool with shipping.. I LOVE them.. aggressive tread, great cornering, good bite on dry pavement.. havent seen any rain with them yet though.. The kick the crap out of my old goodyear GS-C's.. (275-40-17)
