17" 4th gen wheels... what do I need to mount them?

17" 4th gen wheels... what do I need to mount them?
I have a 1988 Iroc-Z with a drum rear. What do I need to mount these wheels I just picked up? They are 17" and 4th gen, though I'm not sure on the year (anyone know?)

If anything those tires are a bit small. Most run 275/40r17 all the way around with no problems. I used to run that combo. Now the rears are a bit larger...
Oh, and those are the very popular ZR1/SS style wheels found on 96-99 Camaro SS cars, non-convertibles.
And put some Bowtie caps in it please

Transmission: 5 speed
A little lacquer thinner, light sanding , some silver paint and a bowtie sticker from the cheapo auto parts store will work fine. The stock Chevy "printed" bowtie likes to wear off or fade.

ehhhh.... what about chrome? I can get a deal on some that have the vette emblem on them. Thought it might look good with the chrome on the outside of the rim!

Don't screw up those Pontiac emblem center caps if they're nice looking, I don't even own any of those wheels anymore, but I'd still ****** up the centercaps because it's hell to find Pontiac ZR1 centers.

Well I just happen to have the same wheels on a '84 TA, and I have the bowtie centercaps! it sounds like a trade is in order.
On another note, I'm running 275/40r17 all around with 2" spacers like everyone says, and it didn't work in the front. They push the wheels out too far and when I turn right, the left tire runs into the front fender. Same on the other side.
I then tried 1.25" spacers. This looks like it clears the fender, but now the inside of the rim is rubbing against the steering.
How'd you do it Marc? anyone else?

thanks 91, maybe I'll try pulling the inner fender and see if that helps. If so I'll hit the junk yard to see if I can find one from a different year. Have you been to Jacks Used parts in Billerica? that place has like 2 dozen third gens. I also found an alum DS, LS1 front brakes, and a 4th gen rear there for dirt cheap.
You probably have the 50mm offset wheels huh? I gotta figure out how to measure mine before I do something rash. I think I've got 36mm offset wheels (which I didn't know existed 'till last night)

Yeah, I'm off 110 by the Lin Garden. I drive by Saint Memorial every day.
I'm not sure of the offset, they're 17" WS6 wheels from a 97' TA. Been to Jacks many, many times looking for an AL drive shaft...
I know the redesigned inner fender wells came on 91 and 92, not sure if it came out earlier than that. GM redesigned them because of rubbing issues with the 16" wheels.

Yea there's at least 1 more 4th gen rear there, but I think it was an LT1 car, and it didn't have brakes. As for alum DS, I got lucky and musta been there just after they dropped that car off. If you head in there and find the silver 2000 Z28 up on tires, that was me who ripped all the suspension out .
LOL we should set up a 3rd-gen junk-diving day, and go raid Jacks.
Back to the topic at hand, if either/both of you guys could measure to see which offset you have, it'd be very helpful te me. Dunno WTF I'm gonna do... already blew a bunch of dough mounting my gorgeous new Eagle F1 tires on wheels that stick out too far.

Where did you get your adapters from?
have you looked at this site yet. http://www.skulte.com/adapterfaq.html It's pretty informative, although there seems to be some confusion on negative and positive offset. From the chart I pasted below it looks like ZR1 wheels came with multiple offsets and backspacing available. If you have 38mm offset then 2" adapters should be right. but there not. I bet if you call Andris Skulte from this site he will be glad to help you figure out the correct dimensions for your setup. He's helped me out before.
