4.5"BS front 6" BS in the Back. Anyone have this wheel combo?

I recently got in touch with www.sportruck.com about their Boyd Coddington Smoothie II's. They recommended 17x8's in the front and 17x10's in the back with a 4.5"backspacing and 6" backspacing respectively. My question to you guys is has anyone tried this combination? One problem is you will not be able to rotate the tires. I know the 17x8's will work up front but I am not sure about the 17x10's. I was also considering lowering the car sometime about 1.5". I really like the smoothie II's the only draw back is they don't come in a 9" or 9.5" wheel. If this doesn't work out I guess the original smoothies will have to do. What do you guys think?

i have 4.5 in the front on an 8 inch wheel , the 6 on a 10 is right , i know johnnyiroc has 17x10 with 5.75 bs. Id go for the 6 inch . You wont be able to rotate , just get them the two different sizes and dont worry about it .

4.5 is right up front you can really go anywhere from 5.5+ out back, but 6 will keep it tucked under nicely.

Is a 10" wheel any good for daily driving? What about fitment....any banging needed to the wheelwells? Also what about bending the wheels? I was looking at some softlip wheels with the same combo but im alittle worried about the back being so wide.

this is a good post. ive been woundering how much BS in the rear is need to keep the wheel tucked when the car is lowered with a 10'' rim. i got a set of weld prostars 15x10's with a 5.5 bs and i can still fit my fingers back between there and the bumpstop. now if it was moved another .5 youd probably have to trim off the bump stops to what i think just incase kinda thing.

i plan on gettin a set of Foose rims and will be lowerin my car with Dropzone springs as soon as they get here.

just so you know kandiedz had 18x10s on his 91 or 2 and had a bs of 6.75 , i know he had to do hammering and cut the bumpstop , the only good thing about going through all the work to fit them is that you could run an 11 inch wide rim .

and they fit right lifted, lowered or ride height.. well a little bit of rubbing when lifted.

Are you sure they dont come in a 9" or 9.5" wide width? Did you ask them directly? It may not be listed on the website, but when I asked them directly they pretty much said they could make any width I wanted with a $50 extra fee per wheel.

would a 6'' backspacing on the rear rims keep the rim in nicely or should i look at about 6.5''? im lookin to get a set of Foose rims 18x9 or 10'' for the rear and was just woundering. right now im tryin to get prices on the rims i want. i dont care if ill have to do a bit of trimming, i gotta fix some rust in the fenderwells anyway.

i went 5.75 in the back and there was no fit problmes. 17 x 10's and i did the same as you on the fronts and i also got them from sport truck. only p[roblme i had with mine was finding short enough valve stems to clear the bear brakes on the fronts. they way the machine the valve holes does not leave alot of room. its so close i can;t run valve caps. other than that i love the look.

if were lowered much more you would definately have to be careful on the corners.

if you stick to the stock dimensions it works the best, it isn't that hard to modify the inner wells and it's worth the effort overall.

hey Jeffw or Kandied i heard the Baer brakes push the rim out like 1/4'' is that true and would most company make a backspacing on the rims that can compensate for that or no?

depends on your options. mine move about 1/8", 1/4" would be the max i would assume. you can factor this amount in when you order your custom offset wheels or cut your adapters to fit.

Thanks for the link Kandied. Actually I had just been looking at some wheels over at Boze, only the "stixx", butr can't find any pricing anywhere for these rims, and I didn't get any reply when I sent an email to them either. Do you have any idea what I'm lookin at in 18x9 and 18x10?

retai is $750 a rim but options and dealer prices are different throughout. if you search enough or even try talking with the guys at boze they will usually cut a deal. $425-475 is the norm for them though depending on options again.

So kandied are you running 275s on the rear? They look pretty wide in some pics. Anyone know about TT2 backspacing/offset for a set of 17x9.5 & 11s

Going with some 17x8's & 10's myself, and I was wondering about the backspacing to make em fit.

Are you guys all using the stock (0 fr, 16 bk) offset as well?

And also, what do you guys think of these wheels:

They're a Billet Specialties SLX45

If someone had the time/desire to photochop these onto a 91 it wouldnt hurt my feeligns either
