I was wondering, what do you think the best shock, spring, and strut combination is? I want to drop it 1" or 1.75", I want good handling, but I don't want to feel every bump in the road, I do realize I won't have cadillac ride quality but I don't want an extremely stiff suspension.

Cut early 3rd gen TA/Z28 springs (1 coil in front, ½ a coil in back, swap the rear spring isolators to the front, use lengths of heater hose for the rear), and the sway bars that came with an early TA (32mm front, something like 18 rear, comparatively small to what a lot of people run, but the big WS6 bars are too stiff for those springs). Though that will lower the car more then what you want.

Eibach pro springs will get you in the range that you want and are softer so you could run the big WS6 bars, but I don’t like how they sit.

Koni’s in the front and something cheap/decent in the rear (Gabriel gas riders) is about optimum on the street/autox. Supposedly the Koni’s for a t-bird bolt in and have softer valving, but I haven’t tried them. For road race use Koni’s in the back set full soft or one notch in.

Define what you mean by "stiff" these combinations work nicely on the street and I feel that they are very streetable, but you end up with something much stiffer then a stock WS6/Iroc suspension

I just put koni reds all the way around and Eibach pro springs. I love it it makes such a differance to wore out stuck stuff. The ride is not that much wore than stock eather.

32/21 bars on my 83TA

Seems to work well with a prokit, poly bushings and Koni Yellows set full soft rear and 1 to 1.5 turns on the fronts.

REVLIMIT

How much are you willing to spend? My spring/strut/shock set up is damn good in my opinion though it'll cost about $1,100 or so. Ground Control adjustable weight jack system and Koni Yellows. The ride is smooth...not as smooth as stock. But it's a better ride then new factory struts/shocks w/ Pro-kit.

When I bought the 88 sport coupe 4 months ago the shocks, struts & springs were worn out. It was like a boat rocking up and down on the water. Now I just installed Bilstein heavy duty shocks and struts, and the Eibach Pro kit and now the car handles like a dream. The combo is not cheap but I think it is worth it to spend a little more.
