thats about it depending on backspacing and how your car sits.
i can put a 28x12.5 on mine, but ill have to hammer in the inside well a lot more. they fit and roll, but around corners on the street or turning at the end of the strip would be a rubbing SOB for sure.
ive got a 5" backspace wheel that i tested the 12.50's on.
my 11.50's are fine, dont wanna bang anymore than i have.

every car is different, luckily i had a friend i could borrow wheels off of. if not, id have wasted money.
find some to test fit before you purchase them new, IMO
they may fit your car without any mods, ya never know.
have fun.

depends on how good you are with a hammer.i have wupped mine inside a bunch and rolled the lips of the fenders.i have 30x12.5 et streets on mine.my car does not squat on the launch though.i have southside lift bars on mine, factory style suspension would probably squat and rub the side walls.mine is a very tight fit for sure.

do you have a pic of the 30's ?
ive thought about going with a 29.5x9 slick, which should fit, but i didnt want it too look "OFF" from the body lines of the car.

last one.its alot of work to get 30inch tires to fit.remember that 29.5 m/t slicks are 29.9 tall and it takes more power to turn a bigger tire.i ran mid 9's on 28x10.5's and 28x10.5 slicks.i have been high 8's on the 30inch tires but it was with a bigger notor.

I don't understand the craze about trying to fit the biggest widest slick under the back of the car. I know that these cars have traction issue, but you can jerk the front wheels on a 9 inch wide slick so why go through all the extra time and expense?

a taller tire on a high horsepower car is the cheap way to take gear out of it to leave hard without spinning the tires, track street, wherever, it works. notice he runs a TALL tire and not a WIDE tire.
you are correct that a 9" slick will hook just fine
a 30x12.50 ET STREET is ONLY 10.2 inches wide.
so they arent that wide at all.

My last post wasn't meant to sound like a derogatory statement. The only reason why I asked is because there are alot of people who want to put the biggest tire on the car, but don't have the power to justify it. Obviously with 1000 RWHP, your situation does call for it. Take me for example. My camaro will have 475HP on the motor and through the T5, I might get 390 at the wheels. If I spray another 150 shot, that's still only 540RWHP. I can run a 26x9 and have all the tire I'd need but there are guys who run less power and will try to put a tire on the car that is the same size as the one you run.

even a 28" helped me on the street a bit. bout 370hp/450torque to the ground.
ive run a 26x9 forever and had great results. best of a 1.58 short time on them. ill know how the bigger tire acts come january when the track opens, but its all good on the street. lower crusing RPMS are good too. got out of the resonance PRM band, thank gosh.
