The main disadvantage of the battery in the back is the weight of the cable.
So 5 grand for the brakes, suspension, and driveline?

1 g lateral-street car
Can I play?
I guess to answer your question, as others have tried, you need to be willing ot make some sacrifices-meaning 1 G lateral will not be the best car at the drag strip-without swapping some pieces each time-I have, but it is a major PITA.
Here are some thoughts:
1) Lower the car-see below
2) get some springs (eibachs)
3) get some adjustable struts/shocks
4) swap out the sway bars-but some say use stock IROC bars-I use the big Spohns
5) strut tower brace
6) sub frame connectors
7) Baer track kit F/R or similar
8) Add some sticky tires-street tires, I use BFG TA KD's-some guys use them for racing because they stick-but pricey-add some Hoosiers when street tires bore you
That should eat you 5k budget
Want to get crazy?
weight jacks
camber plates
aggressive alignment for track
custom spring rates
scale car side to side-use the weight jack kit
275 fronts/315 rears BFG g-Force T/A KD's street
275/335 17 Hoosiers track
My car isn't your average Burger Joint ride, but I built it to dominate open track events-which it does. I don't make it a habit of worrying if I can do 1g on the street, but it will. I can also drive to the strip, spin to some 11's@ 129, brake at the first track exit and scare the crap out of the workers.
BTW-my Z06 has done 1.34 lateral with Hoosiers in a sweeping left had turn at MAM. Assume that G-Tech Pro counts??

Stand by, I'm working on some articles.
This one isn't the one I'm looking for but it will get you started:
http://chevyhiperformance.com/howto/4530/
http://superchevy-web.com/tech/0402sc_gmachine/
http://popularhotrodding.com/features/0406phr_owen/
Ok, well there's some good resources there. I couldn't find the exact article I was looking for, it was a 3rd gen that was running high 9's on the skidpad w/o subframe connectors. At any rate, it seems like getting .8 to about .95 is relatively easy, getting over the 1g hill is a little more difficult.

It is very common knowledge at any race course that G-tech #'s will often "spike" a higher reading that what is realistic.

What do you use then? That doesn't supprt what I have read, but it is really irrelevant.
I'll buy what you use and report back to you.

I agree it is irrelevant. I'm not trying to bicker by any means. To go further, I have checked out your car page and want to complement you and some VERY repectable cars you have.
I was just merely giving my experience that G-tech in not a reliable source.

i have the original G-tech, it sucks, for lack of a better word. I have not used the second model but i was so turned off by the first that i went out and got the passport G-timer and i am vry happy with it. I won't claim its accurate because i have nothing to compare it to but it is dam consistent. It along with a wide band O2 helped me take nearly a second off my 0-60 times. I also love the "handling modes" it has.

Just for fun of show and tell, Here's a sequence photo shoot of me taking down a BMW M3 off the rear main straight into the infield section at Calif Speedway. We were coming down from just over 120mph into a very tight left-then righthand chicane. We were both on street tires. I aslo had inside track (a much tighter line) into the tight turn and still walked on him while braking and through the corner.

and to whomever can answer. once i find out the front and rear weights, how would i determine what rate springs to run?

As for spring rates, I would look for a complete "package" that meets your needs. Mine are very stiff, and are too much really for street use at 1100 lbs. front. If you call Ground Control, they can make some recommendations based on your intentions. Good luck. Hope to see you in April at RA!
BTW-there are several vids of mine at RA here:

Edit:Yes, Pete pissed me off with his naiveness. Racecars with full race specs running DOT autoX tires and getting only 500miles treadlife out of a so called street tire with -3* camber in order to get 1g to 1.2g's isn't what anyone else would call a "street car" on "street tires" pulling over 1g.
My Camaro does not have AutoX DOT tires, it has "STREET TIRES" (Goodyear F1 GS-D3 245/50-16's on 4 corners). It is daily driven on the street. It gets 25,000 miles treadlife on those tires and that alignment and yes it still pulls 1.07g's. Show me another 3rd gen thats doing that. Don't tell me stories Peter, Show me the car.

You do know that this is the internet and you could well be fabricating evrything you post as far as any of us on the other end know. (I do not think this is the case at least not 100%) You **** me off with just about every post of yours I read. YOU ARE NOT the end all be all of suspension. You do know what works for you and it may or may not work for someone else. You might well be a decent person in person but on ethe net you come off as a pompus jerk.

Well David, as you exit the last corner a bit out of control fighting to get your car back on line, then almost catch back up to my crappy little v6 nearing the next corner, you'll be braking first again (while sitting back a greater distance than I from the next corner entrance) and brake fade + nose push will send you off line again fighting to keep the same lines and braking markers that I use and you'll once agin scratch your forehead while sitting backwards on the infeild grass.
Thats only the first lap- we have 19 more to go and much much more tire wear and brake fade......
You were saying?
Vsixtoy- Dean
PS- I've done something no one else on these boards or anywhere I have seen for that matter has attempted. Don't knock it until you've ridden in it- it'll make you sh*t, You can ask George Laura from B&M (12secSS) He's the first and so far only person to experience what this car can do.
Sign, the "handling guru" as you put it.
