Parking brake light (on dash) flashing?
I've been having this problem with my brake light on my dash always being on, and now its culminated into this wierd problem. For some reason it wants to flash like its giving me a trouble code. It blinks one time long, then followed by six times fast. Usually on my "service engine soon" check for trouble codes this is how I see what code im pulling. Wierd thing is, this is what my brake light is doing and its blinking a '16'. What could it be trying to tell me?

At what times does this happen? While driving, sitting still, when the key is first turned or just starting. Have you checked the brake fluid level or the parking brake lever? You could have bad wiring in the instrument cluster.

Having the brake light on in the first place is an indication of possible brake failure, usually air in the system or low brake fluid. Topping off the reservoir and bleeding the brakes usually fixes this. If this does not fix it, there is either a brake leak or electrical failure in the sensor and/or gauge cluster.
I've never heard of the "16" code you're talking about on the brake lights, though if you have air bags, it may be for that.

Well the vehicle is my 89 silverado with the L05. I'm going to check the fluid levels and see if thats the issue. I appreciate the replies to my question becuase I could not find anything in any archive or in the chilton on my problem. I figured someone had to have gone through this before and i'm bewildered to find out that it is this rare.
