will 28" tires fit?

ive looked and searched, but havent seen any specific threads to my questions.

car is an 88 model. i will be running a 15x8" rim on 4.5" BS

im interested in running 28x10.5x15 sportsman pros on the street (im pretty sure they will fit no problem)

i will have a second set of wheels deticated to a set of 28x10.5x15 M/T ET drags.

i have seen a lot of posts on et streets and hoosiers, but nothing on the micky's.

if anyone can help, it is appreciated.

i believe the basic pounding of wheel wells, rolling of fender lip is in order, but should be ok throughout.

Ive got a 29.5X10.5W ET Drag now, but before that I had a 28X10.5 ET Drag. There was a little work involved in makin the 28 fit...first thing: have you already bought the wheels? If not i would run with a 5.5 bs if you can cause the 4.5 really makes the tire stick out. you also may look into getting a 10" wheel..really that slick calls for a 10" wheel, but you might be ok with a 8"

Feel free to ask any questions...i can try my best to answer any you may have man

here is a pic of my car with the 29.5's I have some with the 28's somewhere..

also you can see a couple other pics here http://www.exit22.org/Nate2.html

i havent bought the wheels, but didnt wanna go 10 because of the BS-ing. if i go 5.5" backspacing what is required. beat the hell out of the inside of the wheelwell and remove the bump stops ?

just dont wanna put money where it aint gonna go. thanks!
those 29" look sweet!

Twisted, Did you have to modify the wheel well opening at all to get those 29.5s to fit? Any rubbing when the slick grows at speed?

to make the 28's fit with the 5.5 bs i had to do a lot of beating, cut the bump stops out and some of the spring housing. Really, I wanted to tuck the tire as much as possible under the car, at one time I did have the 4.5 bs 15x8 wheel and it stuck out real bad when i put the slicks on. The whole look I wanted to achieve was to try and tuck the tire up in the fender much as possible.

bjm- yeah man i had to trim some of the fender in front and back of the tire to make it fit. It doesnt rub unless i go over dips in the road really fast, and when it did rub all it did was barely eat into the extreme outer edge of the tire on the drivers side. And in case youre wondering-its not mini tubbed or anything- i do still have stock springs/shocks in the factory location in back, ive just changed the shocks to 50/50's and i use air bags in the springs for the street.
