Stock Improvements
Okay I have an 88 sport coupe, what parts could I get from a junk yard from scraped thirdgens could I get to improve my performance. So far I've picked up a Wonderbar, looking at getting an Iroc steering box next.
I hear some of the later firebirds got heavier front sway bars 36mm I believe.
What other things should I keep an eye out for?

check out this thread. it has all the different suspension RPO codes that will tell you the sizes of the sway bars. This will be helpful in identifying junkyard cars and their suspension.

Other than stock parts, a good set of poly bushings like energy suspension will be a good idea to help tighten the car up. Other than that, you will have to go aftermarket to get better parts.

The new IROC-Z option was available on the Z28 and came with new 16x8 aluminum rims, P245/50VR-16 Z Rated Goodyear Gatorback tires, fog lights, CAMARO on front license plate panel, .5 inch lowered ride height, body colored valances, Delco-Bilstein rear gas shocks, special front struts, increased spring rates, special jounce bumpers, 5 degrees of caster (up from 3.5 on Z28) in front wheel alignment, `WonderBar' front frame rail stiffener, special valving in steering for increased steering effort, larger rear stabilizer bar with stiffer bushings, IROC-Z exterior decals and interior dash badge, and a thinner two-color lower body stripe.
Few questions what are special jounce bumpers? and what does 5 degrees of caster mean?
One more questions this is about 1le cars, what were these "deflected disc" shocks?

jounce bumbers are bump stops, i guess they were shorter because of the 1/2 " lower ride height.
defected disk shocks are actually nothing but the correct way to build a damper. Many cheap sht dampers use some sort of a tapered rod and orifice to control the spring oscillations, real dampers use stacks of very thin washers of varying diameters over large orifices to control damping. This allows for a firm responsive ride, that will absorb sharp bumps. It's the prefferred situation. The standard junk, is the opposite, soft wallowy ride and jarring over sharp bumps.
caster is the relationship between contact patch of the tire and where the line drawn thru the upper and lower pivots of the wheel would touch the ground if you drew a line thru them. Look at a shopping cart, the tire touches the ground well behind the pivot, this adds stability and selfcentering to the stering
