Front/Rear Brake Ratio
I have an '86 SC. Disc front, drum rear stock brakes all the way.
Last winter, whenever I pulled into a parking spot at work, my front wheels would both hit a patch of smooth ice, and my rear wheels would be on dry pavement. Going really slow, less than 5 mph. I'd push all the way down on the brakes, but the car wouldn't stop. The front wheels would slowly slide on the ice, and the rear wheels would slowly keep rolling until the car bumped up to the curb.
What's going on? I know the front brakes lock before the rear, but is that behavior normal, or does the ratio need to be changed? It was irritating to not be able to stop the rear wheels.
Thanks,
John
