17*9.5 Z06 Rims???
I own an 87 Iroc-Z and am wondering if these rims would fit with 275 in front and 285 in rear and how much backspacing would i need to make it happen....I was also wondering if maybe a 255 in front and 275 in rear would be better and how much backspacing there.... also tires are going to be nitto 555 extremes.. 40 series...

I have also decided to run these wheels on my 91 Z. I called my local wheel shop and they said the 17x9.5 would fit perfectly. They didnt say exactly what the backspacing was. I am also running 275 all the way around. I guess that doesnt help you if you are buying them online, or in a magizine. As you will need to know what back spacing you will need. All I know is they look badass! Nice pic of the red Iroc.

you will need adapters and depdning on the aftermarket brand you get them through your offset will vary. personally going through the experience i would get the wheels of choice first and measure to get the exact cut for your adapters. most will tell you a 2" adapter all around is good but sometimes you don't need that much or you could use even more. i know with my 18's the size offsets were very high. as much as +58 and higher so i needed more then 2" for front but alot of companies offer lower + numbers for the 17" sizes. in the end i sold them because i didn't like using the adapters.
oem concepts has the direct mold with the best quality of chrome plating but they cost a little more. becareful where you go as some use reman wheels and others use defective wheels.
performance wheel outlet and aaa rims are examples of places that you have to watch. good luck

275/40/17 is the proper tire for a stock replacement height on those 9.5 17" rims. your adapters won't justify what tire works or doesn't only the rim itself. you could get away running a 285 but they you will be throwing things off from stock specs much like when changing a gear without calibration.
nitto is actually made by bfg and their molds are hand me downs from bfg so although in most cases your paying top dollar for the nittos the brand and actual design itself isn't of top quality.
bfg, michelin, and toyo are up there but so are the prices. for best price to performance kuhmo isn't too bad. all depends on what your looking to spend. i really love my toyo proxies as i'm on my second set of t1-s. i really love michelin pilot sports but they are extremely expensive.
if your going for a y rated tire toyo is a great one. if you have money to burn the pilots are excellent in the sport and their all weather xg models are really cheap and grip quite well. the only bfgs i've had are comp ta which were very nice but didn't last long. i just recently picked up the new 18 dr so i can't comment on it yet.
good luck

why would you want to stretch a low profile tire?
your putting wider rims on the car so that's what your going to have to deal with. as long as your measurements are right they will fit without sticking out much. the 275 is the proper way to go.
