HRE vs BBS

I have been looking at both of these wheels and I am confused between which one is the better wheel.
http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/Displ...l+w%2FMach+Lip
BBS LM
or....
http://www.hrewheels.com/
HRE 540

I know that BBS is known in the racing world, and I am looking for a light wheel in the 17inc range, I just dont know which one to get.
Also does anyone know how wide one should go on the wheels fornt/back w/o having alot of sidewall hanging out??? I guess I should probably tell you guys the car is not driven much but when it is I like to Auto X it.

THANKS

both of those wheels are very high quality

the BBS is more race oriented
the width "without side wall hanging out" depends on what tire you want to run.

a 3 piece wheel is nice if you race just in case you bend the wheel you can easily fix it. i think the hre is a nicer looking wheel but for the price i'd go bbs if i had to decide between the two.

If you have the money go with Iforged or HRE's. Both are the best looking kind of wheels IMHO. Go over the ls1.com or camaroz28.com and do a search. Lots of those guys have money and have these wheels. Plenty of pics to drool over.

One thing I saw about the HRE that I though was interesting was this:
• 17, 18, 19 and 20 Inch Diameters
• 7-13 Inch Widths
• Custom Widths & Offsets Available
• O.E. spec lug configurations
• Tire Pressure Sensor Compatible
• Large brake clearance
• Hub Centric

I guess I could have the offsets and width tweaked for my car?
In addition, what tires do you guys suggest (I don’t want too much tire hanging out)?

THANKS

do some reading up on tires....if you take the words of people who don't know you run the chance of messing things up. be your own judge. if you pick the proper width and sidewall by using the right calculations you will find everything you need.

any 2 piece or three piece billet aluminum wheel can be custom built. it's the cast, forged, or liquid forged single piece wheels that typically aren't. for as much as hre/iforged/etc. cost they had better be built to your exact specs. i would not put these expensive wheels on a daily driver unless you have 5,000 to burn then go for it.
