Globalwest Trak Link 3rd gen cars

I have been running one of these in my car for some time. About
6 years. I have one of "the" 1st ones built and installed by globalwest. I have had mixed results with it since installation
Problem #1 was that the attachment bolts that secured the torque arm itself to the mounting bracket that attaches to the
rearend housing hit major league against the transmission tunnel
binding the rear suspension up when cornering. The fix was to
pound the transmission tunnel for clearance and and change the bolt to something that would allow more clearance.
Problem #2 The trakLink never really worked that well. It was very inconsistant. Contacted globalwest for tech help. They said it only works if you use their rear springs that were designed for it. Remember they installed this beauty and didn't bother to tell me these things before hand. The fix for that was to use their springs that they WILL NOT tell you what the rates are! Well that
helped alot and I was finally a happy camper. I still dont know what the spring rates are.
Problem#3 Is major league for anyone doing a transmission swap. I went from a T-5 to a Tremac. Thinking that everything should work ok after fabricating a new forward mount for the Traklink sense the trans crossmember would be different .
WRONG The traklink (wich isn't your normal torque arm arrangment) actually hit the back of the trans (tremac) so bad
that it would not fit on the car with the new trans installed.
Called Globalwest for some ideas . Their response was why are you building something different than stock. Their Traklink was designed as a STOCK replacement, and not really meant to be adapted to different transmission combinations. I said thats ok
and understand that when it was developed all their was were T-5's and currant automatic transmissions for 3rd gen cars . I mentioned that for future consideration on their part that there is a sizable 3rd generation group that are upgrading to stronger transmissions and Global should see how Spohn has taken the lead in manufacturing crossmembers and torque arms for many different combinations . Global said there was not enough demand to justify manufacturing anything other than for stock replacement. So I guess that explains why Spohn has another customer and global has lost one
