Shocks to solve tire rub???
I recently put 15 x 8.5 wheels with 255x60x15 tires on the rear of my 1988 Camaro coupe, all is fine till I hit a bump or hole at 60mph or more. Then tire rubs on driver's side.
Shocks are about 20,000 miles old. Would changing to a stiffer shock help?? What's a good reasonably ( I'm really hurtin' for money) priced shock?
The cars stance is exactly where I want it now, it just comes down too far on a bump.
Thanks
ps: I have already shaved out the top lip of the wheelwell.

Your shocks don't seem that old but here is what I would recommend. JCWhitney sells a rubber spring helper that you just twist into the spring and it will prevent it from bottoming out on large bumps. It works,, I installed some Suspension Tech lowering spring on my car and I would bottom out on every bump. Once I install these rubber spring helpers things were much improved. So you can spend about $50 on some new KYB rear shocks or 20 dollars on some rubber spring helpers. Of course if your tires are sticking out and you hit a real good bump something has to give and you will still have this problem. Good luck.

Where does it rub? On the wheel lip, or inside the wheel well, near the bottom? I had to "massage" my inner wheel well, near the bottom, with a 15 pound sledge...
Just be sure to buy a new can of undercoating and spray that area after you beat the snot out of it!
I also have the Suspension Techniques springs, and my P245/60r15's on 15x8 rims are looking pretty close to the quarter panel lips. I put on KYB gas-a-just shocks from summit racing, they don't seem to be interfering - yet. You could also try increasing the height of the stock rubber snubber that hangs down from the wheel well (and hits the axle), or, buy a new poly snubber that's longer.
