Suspension priorities, your advice
Im thinking of upgrading my suspension on my 91RS 305 little by little and Im not really sure where to start. I dont want to buy stuff that's not really going to make a difference in handling or the way it feels. What are the priorities when upgrading the suspension? I've been searching around and I get the feeling that I shouldn't worry about the sway bars.Am I right? My baby's just a daily driver with the occasional confrontation with the **** rocket's in my neighborhood. I really appreciate and respect the advive that's given in this forum and hope you guys could help me out.

#1 is going to be to fix hwat 10+ years of age have done.
start with bushings, get a full front end rebuild kit. and get rear sway bar bushings.
then get SFCs you might do that as #1, it is the best mod you can do, it won't make a huge handling diffrence right off the bat, but trust me on this one, you want them, and you want them soon.
after that, shocks/struts (this is going to be a HUGE bang for the buck upgrade)
then . . .
LCA's and Relocation Brackets (you will want these very soon after spings, if not at the same time.)
Adjustable Panhard bar.
Torque arm - spendy but worth it.
at that point you should have a pretty hot little ride, if you want to go on from there... that will need to be another post

I wish I would have done SFCs first.
Besides that, replace all the bushings with poly ones and replace the ball joints and tie rods aond other wear items. This will nake a HUGE difference.

I just did my SFCs today, well, I finished them today. I installed Spohn's and they fit great. I haven't taken the car out yet as I haven't finished up the exhaust yet. Can't wait to start that thing up with open headers.

i'd also have to agree with that nice list....however, i also really liked my upgraded sway bars. i enjoy taking turns without alot of body roll. coupled with nice spring/strut/shocks it's quite enjoyable.

Hey, EB (off topic, sorry),
I started my 1LE upgrade today. The disassembly was straightforward until I tried to remove the A-arm. The nuts came off the bolts easily enough (I'd soaked them for a couple of days), but getting the bolts out of the bushings was a major PITA and took a couple of hours--I did triumph, but I'm exhausted. Nap time.

James, use PMs.... jeez.
I agree with everyone here, get subframe connectors FIRST! I actually had mine done second (replaced all my broken endlinks with Prothanes first), and it made quite a difference. It will give you a good platform to start on suspension with, also.
Something everyone else didn't mention is a wonderbar. You should get this done second, because you don't want to spend all your hard work and money on your car just to have the sheet metal start tearing apart under your steering box. This was my fourth addition (#3 was a badly needed poly trans mount ).

Replace the broken/worn stuff first. Most obvious, the steering stuff. Chances are, if it was lubed fairly often the tie-rods and ball joints are fine. Check the idler arm closely(probably replace it), and the center link(the only wear joint is hooked to the pitman arm).
Bushings, sway bar and control arm to be more specific.
Subframe connectors, tie everything together and will give you a much better ride, and all the upgrades will work better.
Springs/shocks/struts, decide how low(if any) you want to go and get a set of drop/stock springs and probably some kyb shocks/struts.
Then, IMO, the order doesn't become as important.
A set of bigger sway bars from the junkyard. Find a car with the front 36mm, then grab up the front and rear bars. May also get a wonder bar if you are lucky.
You didn't mention your tire size. If you have 15's, 16's will make a huge improvement--IMO the first style Irocs would look sweet
Out back, replace the control arms and panhard rod, install LCA relocation brackets if you have any wheel hop issues(from lowering)

the spohn kit is nice , it includes some things that most rebuild kits dont
Energy suspension also makes one, that is very nice.
i had a friend buy a PST kit, he said the quality was good, but their customer service sucked, and they don't make 36mm sway bar bushings, so he had to hone his out to fit the big front sway bar.
