spring rates?

any body out there road races and autocrosses with their street machines? what spring/strut/shock combos did you find effective?i think the stock iroc front coils were in the range of 550lbs? true? should i go stiffer? are eibach's pro stiffer? are they progressive or linear?

I think Irocs spring might be higher than that 550# but I don't have any exact figures- My assumption has been they are around 600-650# stock and most after market kits to be around 700-750#.

I run 800# springs on a lightweight V6 up front- you bounce on my fenders and are lucky to get 1/2" of movement- and thats mostly tire flex. This car is mainly used for everyday driving and still rides great- wife mostly drives it and loves it. The car is certainly stiff but not uncomfortable.

who makes your 800lb coils? did they lower your car too? with the v-6 i'm sure it rides higher. i have the 305 so maybe it'll be lower?

Rides higher than most Camaros. They are race springs custom taylored to ride height, about 2+" of drop.

Thank you Steve, It has mostly your equipment underneath- Only thing not changed underneath is the Front A-arms that I'm still waiting patiently for you to design some day.

Wish I could say I had close to full suspension. I'm getting there! Oh, and dont forget the Cross-Member! Dont trust those aftermarket Cross-Members. Seriously wonder if they can handle sliding @ 100 mph. Stock piece is heavy but also very very strong. Getting ready to remove my heavy stock Cross-Member and do the weld in Ground Control Weight Jacks. I dont think its any better than the non weld in kit, but it will make adjusting the front height to fit on the trailer alot easier.

Dont know the specifics on the stock spring rates, somewhere around 500-600# sounds right for the front. I think the stock rear is 200#. Eibach Pro-Kit and Sportline springs are progressive, unsure of the rates. If you want stiff linear rate springs, check out Ground Control. They carry 5.5 OD linear front race springs 500-1200# in stock, 1200-4000# custom order (wowzers!). They also have rear race springs 150-350#.
