Competition Engineering Bolt on SFCs

Ok guys, I've searched and haven't found a 100% conclusive answer to this question. I bought a set of Competition Engineering SFCs a while ago (long enough that I don't think I can return them to summit if I need to ) They are identical to these ones on eBay http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...category=42609 My question is: Has anybody here used these SFCs? Are they worth anything at all? They don't seem like they'd do much, but I'm not sure. I've heard the Jegsters ones are really good, should I try to get rid of the CE ones that I have? I know these will bolt on without any floorpan or exhaust mods (and I was going to get them welded in place after they were bolted on). Is it worth my time to mess with them or should I get a different set? Thanks for your help and advice!!!

-Paul

P.S. it's a mostly street car, but I'll run it on the strip from time to time, I just want the whole car tightened up.

Read the directions again, it says: you will need to cut the floor boards.
I just saw a set this week and from what it apears they work in conjunction with another rear kit.
(That is if they're the same ones I saw.)
I went to their site and read up.

I've read the instructions several times, the only modification to the floor boards is to drill holes up through the door sills to install some of the bolts for the SFCs. To the best of my knowledge that's all the floor pan modification that will be required for those particular SFCs.

I have the 3120 CE bolt-ons, they are not bad, but i want much more. I am going to weld them in and build some large X-braces to go fron the front DS to the rear PS mounting locations and vis-versus. No mods are needed at all.

Thanks ME Leigh, That's kinda what I thought. So should I go for it with the 3120s that I already have and try to reinforce/brace them, or should I get rid of them and get a better set? Any opinions?

Thanks!

Hey ME Leigh, do you have any pics of your SFCs installed? Or does anyone else have pics of the CE 3120 SFCs installed? I know what the diagram in the intructions looks like but I'm kind of curious to see how they look installed as compared to some other bolt ons (so I'd love to see some pics of other brands of bolt on SFCs too). Thanks guys!!

Hey again! I was browsing through the forums and saw an idea which I kind of like. What do you guys think of putting my CE SFCs in and then also getting a set of Alston or MAC SFCs installed as well? From what I read the Alson's and MAC's don't run in the same place that most of the standard SFCs run. With 2 sets of SFCs installed the car would really be solid! What do you think about this idea? (weight is not a particular issue for me, if it's too heavy I'll just hafta build a stronger motor hehehe) Let me know some opinions on this!!

Sounds like a little overkill.

Hahaha, well I'm not so sure you can ever have too much frame. My '69 GTO had just enough for my liking It might be overkill, but it would be stiff and strong! I'm really leaning away from using my CE 3120's and getting Alston or Mac SFCs, but I'm not 100% sure yet....anyone interested in a brand new set of 3120 bolt ons? Anyone else think 2 sets of SFCs would be overkill or stupid? Also I'd really like some pics of different brands of SFCs installed. I've seen some browsing through the forums, but I know there are more brands that I haven't seen install pictures of. Thanks again for all the input so far, keep it comin!

ME Leigh -

Any pics of the install? Just got a set of CE 3120's. I'd like to see what they look like installed.

QuadGoat -

What did you ultimately end up doing? Did you go with the CE's, double up with Alston/Mac, or just go Alston/Mac? Do you have any pics?

either of you have any advise about putting on the CE 3120's?

thanks,

Kurt

I'd like to know if ME Leigh got any pictures also. As for my SFC situation, my car still doesn't have any installed lol I'm pretty sure I want to go with the Alston's from Lon at TDS, but I think I'll probably go ahead and throw the 3120's on also, since I have them and if I'm doing SFC stuff anyway it'll be quite easy to install both sets at the same time. I'm not real concerned about weight either because it's a mostly street car and the 3120's don't weigh that much anyway. Good luck with whatever you decide to do, and if you get the 3120's installed I'd love to see pics of them!!
