spring rates

This may have been covered, but....

does anyone have the actual spring rates of the Eibach pro kit for 82-92 fbodies? I am interested in hard numbers not approximations.

Well Eibach springs are progressive. This means that the spring rate will change depending on how much force is applied to the spring. Its not like specific rate springs that maintain the same rate no matter how much force you apply. Progressive rate springs are more comfortable for street driving. It will have a soft rate (nice ride) when going straight, but when you take a turn and force is applied the rate will stiffen. If you are interested in specific rate springs Eibach makes those too, they just dont advertise it. I know another member on here (bbunting) has some serious 1100 lb front springs from Eibach.

actually the rears are progressive, but the fronts aren't.

z28jari- are you sure about those numbers? Are they for a pro-kit or the sportlines? I have 750 lb/in in another camaro and it feels waaaayyy stiffer than with the prokit.

Ok if you say so. If you goto Eibach's website and read the FAQ:

What is the spring rate of the Pro-Kit?

Only simple linear springs have a spring rate. A sophisticated progressive Eibach Pro-Kit spring has a load/deflection characteristic. The special design parameters are only accessable through Eibach Desk-Tech Database to Eibach’s exclusive partners.

But they dont specify front/rear so who knows right?

So to find the spring rates you have to find out how to access the Eibach Desk-Tech Database or contact Eibach’s exclusive partners.

its never simple, is it? I said the fronts are strait rate because they appear to be, the coils don't change pitch, diameter or wire thickness at least as far as i could tell. I didn't take a caliper to them but visually they appear to be strait rate, the rears are however progressive. I will see if i can check with eibach.

Thats how I feel sometimes .. never simple damnit!! Well good luck finding out. Eibach's website is pretty general as far as tech info. I asked the same question a while back about Eibach spring rates, but since then I've decided to go with specific rates on the track. Bought 7 sets of specific rate springs from TVP (another user here), 600, 700, 800, 900 lb in the front and 200, 250, 300 in the rear. We'll see how it works out @ the track when the car is ready to run (few more months here).
