Tire too small for 16x8 wheel?

Got a set of 214/55/16 tires real cheap. Thought they were 255's, but I messed up and now I'm stuck with them. Are they going to be too narrow to work on my 16x8 GTA wheels? Thx

214 or do you mean 215? Most brands have a website where you can look up the tire and they give a range of rim widths that the tire will fit on.

They should work, i believe. 215/2.54=~8.5" so should work.

whoa that tire size is really pushing it though it may fit. 225 is already pretty much a flat tire wall with the rim. So it'll probably be a little streched out.

It should work, I used to have a set of 225/50R16's on the front(came with the wheels). 215/55R16 will be close to the same height, but 1 cm. narrower. I'm glad I won't be the one to mount it Look at the pic in my sig. Those are 245/45R16's yours will be even shorter.

This is not a question wheather the diameter is OK, this is a question if a 215 should be mounted on a 8.0" wide wheel, and I say NO.

A 215 should not be put on a wheel wider than 7.0".

ok, I was just wondering in case i get a flat or something. I've got 255/55/16's all around now. I think it would look funny with 215's up front.
