Sorry, computer snafu killed this post the first time.

My questions are:

Have any convertible owners done anything
unique in terms of chassis reinforcement? I'm looking for stuff
beyond the basic subframe connector install.

Those that have installed Kenny Browns, how do you like them,
and how does the car compare to a coupe in terms of stiffness?

I have considered a 6 pt. rollbar, I like the Kenny Brown super street cage at http://www.kennybrown.com/fbodycage.html
it is minimally intrusive with drop down bars in the front. Its for 4th gens, but even if it would fit rear bars wouldn't clear the
tonneau cover.

I have a set of Kenny Brown SFC's, and my plan is to cut the riveted in rocker reinforcement along its length just below the
factory rocker pinch weld. Then, the inboard portion of the
reinforcement will be completely removed, exposing the inside
surface of the rockers so I can weld the SFC's directly to the rockers like you would on a coupe. I would use an 0.080 in. thick
peice of angle steel to join the remaining outboard portion of the
riveted in reinforcement to the factory pinch weld.

The reason for this is that installing a Kenny Brown style
connector on a convertible by welding it along its length to
the riveted in reinforcement doesn't seem too sturdy since all
the force still transmits through those stupid rivets (mines pretty
sloppy).

I'll also get some Alstons since they mount independant of the Kenny Browns, only cost $90, and don't add that much extra
weight.

Sorry about the 'War & Peace' sized post, I'll try to keep it shorter
next time.

Dont get the $90 Alston SFC's. If your going to run 2 different sets of SFC's then you should get the $189 Alston bolt on SFC's and have those welded in after youve bolted them on. From what I understand the weld ins and the bolot ins route differently than each other, and the fitment with the weld ins are kinda sketchy. Just throwing in my .02

Thanks--I hate to pay more than double but I've seen the ill effects of being penny wise & dollar foolish--getting crappy stuff
always seems to cost more in the end.

All the chassis mods I have on my vert include: MAC SFC's, factory Wonder bar, TPIS strut tower brace, Lakewood LCA and adj. panhard rod, 36MM front and 24MM rear sway bars and TPIS shocks and struts. I also have a T-56 going in this winter and I plan on doing some (practice) road racing this summer.

My car handles very well.
