Which lowering springs and shocks to get?

I need to get new springs and shocks for my car and decided to lower it at the same time. The ride is getting rough. I want to lower the car about 1.25 or 1.5 inches. Right now the fender well lip sits about 2.75 inches from teh top of my tire so I should have enough room for the drop. My car is a v6 too. Arent sprigs different inbetweent v8s and 6's? Thanks in advance

I highly recommend Eibach springs. I really like what they did for my car. I went with KYB shocks and struts since I was trying to stick to a budget. Look into these is you're wanting an economical suspension upgrade.

Where you at in AR? I'm originally from Harrison.

Im in Cove, AR its 101 miles south of Fort Smith. Is there anything I need to do when I put the springs and shocks on? Is it just a directbolt on without having to add anything else?

PIG SOOIE!!

Anyhoo, it's a direct swap, just get an alignment afterward.

Click the link in my sig to see pics of how it's done.

SOOIE I've been looking all over the net and have only found lowering springs for v8's does it matter inbetween a v6 car and v8? I have a v6 in my car and i'm concerened I wont get the correct lowering due to less weight the v6 has.

Sportline Springs are the latest development from Eibach, the leader in performance suspension components. Sportline Springs will give your car a low, race-replica look. The goal? A radical reduction in wheel well gap and improved handling. Eibach Pro-Kit Springs usually lower vehicles 1.00" -1.25" to provide the ultimate balance of cornering and ride comfort. Sportline Springs provide an increased drop typically 1.50" to 2.00". Sportline Alignment Hardware Kits are also available to cure the alignment difficulties encountered on aggressively lowered vehicles. The Sportline Alignment Kit can both extend tire life and improve handling.

since you have a v6 most likely you would see alittle less but i wouldnt think too much...

Thanks for the info guys. I'm going to get the pro kit since anything over 1.5 to 2.0 inches will be too much for driving safely down rocky dirt roads with boulders in it Road crews suck here, I need to move to the city wheres theres nothing but paved roads. I'm going to get a lowering package from thunderracing: Complete Lowering Kit - Includes
Eibach pro kit Springs
BMR Adjustable Panhard Rod
BMR Weld-In Lower Control Arm Brackets, For only 349.99. I will most likely get a SCF from Spohn Performance.I will also get some Kyb struts and shocks"Im on a budget" I would like to get the 500.00 kits but thats way outta my price range at the moment. And once I'm finished with all of that I will have the front and rear aligned.

Somewhere I saw a kit for the Prokit springs, pan-hard rod, and something else for $350. I wish , in retrospect, I had done it that way. Either spohn, thunder, or thirdgenresource.

I got my springs for my Iroc at ebay, I didnt put them in yet,,,but I heard there pretty good. Then youll have money left over for that other good stuff!! This is the cheapest place to get a set of good lowering springs for your car,,,,try not to bid over 100 bucks or so cause it seems he has a butch of sets and once those are sold he relists another set. heres the link for the same springs as mine from the same guy: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=1876801524

actually theres lots of lowering springs on ebay right now for the next 2days or so,,,theres mac, sprint, eibach, dropzone,,,,go to ebay.com and do a search for "camaro springs".

Matthew91-Z28, Thunderracing has a lowering kit for 350.00 "the one i'm going to get" It comes with Eibach pro kit Springs,BMR Adjustable Panhard Rod, and BMR Weld-In Lower Control Arm Brackets.
jcurrieirocz, thanks for the link, but the dropzone springs go too low for me I should be able to get away with using the prokit"1.0 inches to 1.25 inches" The roads I drive are dirt and rocky as hell, so 1.75 to 2.0 is way too much to safely drive down my road.

my car was riding high due to my aluminum heads so this weekend i cut a half coil off my stock springs which should bring it to proper height, might consider that.

I dont think anyone should cut there springs without relizing they are taking up to 20% of there spring rate away,,,,makeing your car easier to bottom out and to drag on the ground. There are about 6-7 coils in a stock spring so cuting 1 off can reduce there efficiancy by a lot. Lots have people done it but there can be cons to it too!

actually, when you cut springs you increase your spring rate, not take away. think of it like this, if you have a 12" long bar and you cut 2" off of it, it then becomes harder to bend because it's shorter, right? same principle applies to springs, take coils away and you increase spring rate. since i was starting with a medium stiffness spring, adding 10% or so to the stiffness still won't make it as stiff as a WS6 spring.

After what you said, I thought about it for a bit,,, and your right about it geting harder to bend. I was wrong about that,,,,now I think of it this way: if you have 4 coils in spring and when it's loaded with 300lbs decreases in size by 1", then a 8 coils sping loaded with 300lbs should decrease in size by 2" thus makeing a more coil spring less as stiff. But when you cut out springs and make them stiffer dont you decrease the "spring rate"??

spring rate is the force required to compress a spring a certain distance, like 500lbs/inch, so the higher the spring rate the stiffer the spring
