Basic suspension mods?

You guys may have seen my post in the TPI forum, but if not...

I'm new to the boards but have a lot of knowledge about the F-body and cars in general.

I'll be buying my first car - a 92 (hopefully) Z28 - sometime soon, and will want to start modding it almost immediately. What are some of the basic susp/handling mods that I should do? I was recommended to get SFCs, a strut tower brace, and new control arms - anything else you guys recommend? How much can I expect to pay for all of this?

Thanks in advance for the help.

SFC's ARE A MUST ON ALL THIRDGENS that is a great place to start.

i would get new springs (eibach pro-kit is a great set) and shocks/struts (Blistein if you have some $$$, KYB if you don't )

LCA relocation brackets are also a great bang for you buck iteam.

also get a steering box brace, AKA <in best oasis impresion> 'Wonder Bar' (Top down Solutions, Global West, or Spohn).

a front end rebuild kit would also be a good move , and help things feel much better.

and of course, GOOD TIRES. they make a HUGE diffrence.

hope that helps give you some things to start looking for

Thanks for the suggestions!

I'm a bit wary of buying Eibach's Pro-Kit or a similar set of springs as I'm not sure if I really want to lower the car - it will be used for daily driving, so ride comfort would be a bit of an issue, but mainly I'm worried about the problems that can result of lowering a car. However, I'm sure I'll still go for a set of aftermarket shocks/struts at soem point.

the pro-kit only lowers 1", and chances are you springs are worn out now, so it won't really lower it very much, if any. and at 1 inch the effect on the suspension is pretty minimul (ie. bump steer, wheel hop) you won't have to worry about the rear suspension if you get the LCA brackets, and an adj. panhard. they are also progressive rate springs, so they will probably actualy be MORE comfortable than what you have now. ( i can't vouche for this, i don't have the pro-kit on my car (it is in the garage, not installed, and i am going to be getting the ground-control adj. setup. )

but if you don't want to lower that, i would suggest you get a pair of NEW ws6 springs.

BTW what kind of car is this ??

I'll be buying it in the near future; it'll be a 92 - or similar - Z28...

With the minimal lowering effect and added benefits, I may very well opt for the Pro-Kit...I'll ask around and see what people think of it.
