Easy question about welding. I'm just dumb.
Im planning on getting subframe connectors for Christmas, and I need to know if you can weld them in if they have been powdercoated. If you have to sand the coating off, I won't worry with it.

you could/can weld over the coating, but ideally you'd want to grind it. birght and shinny 1" from the weld area is a good rule to follow to do a good job. SFCs and the factory sheet metal are so thin it's hard not to get good penetration and make an acceptable weld for the application.

ok, well I guess it's not worth the $40 when you're gonna just grind the powdercoating off. I guess I'll just use some black rubberized chassis spray stuff. That should work, shouldn't it? Its not like I'll ever see it unless I actually get under the car.

i wouldn't use the rubberized undercoating, **** promotes rust, go with por-15 or something of that nature.
