KYB GR-2 front struts
KYB Gas-A-Just rear shocks
If you're on a budget, go with these. If not, go with Koni or Bilstein.

I had the KYB's out back for about 2 years then switched over to the Koni's and it was a world of a differance. I have the Koni's on the hardest setting and I love them. I will now be getting the Koni front struts but have to save up the $$$.$$ first.

I have Bilsteins on all corners and they are nice. I cannot compare though in ride quality, because when I put them on my car had the original struts and shocks with almost 100,000 miles on them.

Bilstein (not Bil-Steen, but Bil-Stïne, if you're speaking Deutsche) is also my first choice for replacements, but they aren't cheap.
If your shocks and struts are really worn, even "average" replacements are going to make a major improvement in ride and handling. Just try to avoid the WalMart or AutoZone no-name specials.
BTW - It's refreshing to see that you are taking care of the business end of the car before getting carried away on the engine mods. While you're under the car, take a close look at the brakes, torque arm, and suspension bushings for wear or damage.

From everthing that I read here, I decided to order through an involved process to get the KYBs. I could have gotten Monroes or GM Delco or Gabriels, but I feel that there were too many people happy with the KYBs not to chose them. I am now waiting for them to arrive and I hope they do before I get pulled over and the cops will take you off the road with unroadworthy tires. Heres hoping and I would chose KYBs.

Do spring need servicing after 80 k if you replace the shocks should one replace the spring or they’re no point

well stock springs only last so long, id say at since your doing shocks might as well do springs..
i dont think you can service factory springs, you need new ones!
every one has opinions, but from what i hear kyb's are good and the koni are a tad better..
