Confused - Wheel/Tire Sizing
I'm looking to get some new wheels and tires soon but after searching the archives I'm confused. I originally was going to get 26x10.5-15 ET Streets on a 8" wheel for the rear. Then I thought to get a 15x10" with 26x11.5-15" with a 5.5bs for the rear.
What's confusing me is that it seems most say 26x10.5" on a 15x10" with a 5.5bs is the biggest to go and have it mostly tucked under the car(with no lip rolling, etc.) Then I see Spohn says he's running the 26x11.5-15" M/T ET Street on a 15x10" with 5.5bs with no fitment problem. Could it be that he has a drum rear and that's why it fits? I have a disc rear on the same year car as his which is an '86.
So, do I get a 15x8" with 5.5bs to tuck it in and a 26x10.5 or a 15x10" with 5.5bs and a 26x11.5 ET Street?
Also, alot of people seem to be running the 26x10.5" ET Street on a 10" wheel. I know M/T recommends up to an 8" for that tire so why use a 10" wheel?
Here's where I got the info/confusion from:
https://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/sho...ighlight=15x10
Pictures of Spohns car from here:

I know I asked a question in that old post about the wheels sticking out but I got more info now. I also got sidetracked then and I'm ready for the wheels now.

No one can help clear this up a little more for me?

Roughly...
Look at you current combination
Wheel diameter, backspacing, tire diameter
carefully check the available clearance around the inner
fender well (don't forget the jounce bumper) with your
current combination.
go to...
http://www.tirerack.com
There you will find relatively good dimensional information
for the "brand" of tire you are considering and the effect
of installing that tire on a wheel of a particular width.
You will now have enough info to proceed...
Now you can make a judgement as to whether "clearancing"
your wheel well will be "enough" to get a particular combo
to fit...
Otherwise you have to "trust" replies like...
"see my sig, no probs"
