SC3G Salutes the U.S.S. Iowa Sunday January 20, 2013 @ 1:30PM
Our SC3G Salute to the U.S.S. Iowa will be at:
Pacific Battleship Center
250 S. Harbor Blvd
San Pedro, CA 90731
Website
Built in 1940, the USS IOWA served our country for over 50 years. Designated the "World's Greatest Naval Ship" due to her big guns, heavy armor, fast speed, longevity and modernization, she kept pace with technology for more than 50 years.
During her more than 50 years in service, IOWA has welcomed and escorted our nation’s Commander in Chief on many occasions. No other battleship in our nation’s history has been host to more U.S. Presidents than the IOWA.
Here is the link to the current Groupon Deal which is essentially offering a 2 for 1 deal.
Groupon Deal
For those of you that will not be bringing anyone with you, contact me so I can pair you up with another member that is also coming alone so you can take advantage of the Groupon Deal.
The ABSOLUTE BEST PART of this event, is that out very own Rod Flory who volunteers on the BB-61 will be acting as our own Docent as we course our way through this amazing battleship that is rich with history!
As always, if there are any questions or if there is any additional information I might be able to provide you with, please don't hesitate to contact me.
See you next Sunday

Sounds good, I'll try to be there. This would be a nice trip down memory lane for me, since I worked on the New Jersey when it came into port in Honolulu.

So there is absolutely no confusion regarding this weekends Battleship Event... You must purchase your tickets through the Groupon link above in order to get the '2 for 1 deal' before arriving at the ship. If not, you will need to purchase your ticket(s) at the ships ticket office at a cost of $18 per ticket.

UPDATE: We have been cleared to take a club pic with our vehicles right next to the battleship! ...and just when we thought it couldn't get any better, our friend Stephen Russo has informed me that he will be able to join us for the event and capture our experience as only a professional photographer of his caliber can.
So in light of these new developments, we will need to be in position for our photo shoot no later than 2PM on the dot. So I'm bumping the start time of the event from 2PM to 1:30PM. Please make a note of it as whichever vehicles are ready and in place when we start spraying and praying will be it. We've got one shot at this so lets put our best foot forward and get there a little early so we can make it happen.
Oh, and make sure to take the time to have your cars looking their best because when Stevearino is involved, you never know which automotive website and/or magazine you're going to end up in ;0)
Our 2013 club year is already off to a phenomenal start!

Thanks to everyone who traveled both far and near that came out and coursed their way through an American Icon yesterday. Thanks to Rod Flory for not only suggesting this as a club event but acting as our club docent and securing "Nelson" an additional docent with service on a vessel from the same fleet! Resulting in a signature experience dripping with personal accounts and history. Thanks to Jon Van Buren for the amazing images he captured of our collective experience. ...and last but definitely not least... A very special thank you to Stephen Russo for his assistance in setting up this event, securing permission to have our vehicles photographed off the bow of the BB-61, and as always his magnificent photography. Thanks again guys ;0)
