Re: SoCal TPI Dyno Day Saturday December 15th

I think the price is in the $60 to $70 range. It looks like Andy won't be dynoing his car. So that spot may be available. Kevin will know for sure.

Sorry Dave.

Lon, you're approved.

Spectators are welcome at the dyno. Please come and learn how to dyno a car, and how we get the power we do out of our TPI engines.

Also, if you cant make it during the day but want to come to the meeting, watch this space and I will post when we're leaving the dyno and heading to the restaurant.

Heck at 2pm we might still be on the dyno. It appears as if we will have a number of cars. Looks like Gooseman has weaseled his way into being first on the dyno.

New record for Adrian, 87 IROC, 355 TPI Super Ram, 431 RWHP, 429 RWTQ.

Allen's car is coming up next, and his is the last one of the day.

Not sure he wants to say but here they are, 346/329 running out of fuel on top.

Last session he was at 390+

Wow , still pretty nice numbers. Most cars had that same problem
Maxing out their fuel pumps. Not sure if good or bad? Sign of progress ?
Lowest numbers of the day were 270-ish HP and 300 torque. ( correct me if
I'm wrong) .

I really hope it's not the fuel pump. It's not even a year old. I changed out the fuel filter and it seems it gave my car some of its ***** back. Time for another Dyno.

That will do it if it was somewhat clogged. Hopefully that was it.

Do you think a fuel filter could cause me 40rwhp?

Sure. It could be clogged so bad that all a car will do is idle. So it just depends on how badly clogged it was. It will affect the flow rate or how many gallons per minute it will alow to flow. It can still create pressure if there is hardly any flow against a dead head.

I just hooked my dynotune digital nitrous guage to read my fuel pressure in-car.. I am seeing pressure drop with my turbo setup. It's a boost referenced fuel pressure regulator also.. 55psi idle, 62at 0 boost, 65psi at boost/low rpm and it drops down to 40-45psi in upper rpm...damn.. ill try a new filter and then drop in an extra walbro if I need to. It's nice data to see! Also hooked up my method kit and made my.boost guage illuminate when the method kit is powered on.. no need to have boost guage illuminated until boost is being read. Awesome...

Nice numbers guys!!

Yeah, stock block with 70,000 miles on it (very hard miles). My last run my boost was around ~22-24psi. That's about all my 6152 turbo can do with the ported heads letting it free flow into the engine.

Well done indeed gentlemen!

Question, are these fueling issues a result of sucking the fuel rails dry requiring more pump and/or larger diameter fuel line or simply not enough injector causing them to go static?

Requires a larger capacity fuel pump. Can be the injectors to. We have not found a problem with the size of the fuel line.

sorry , i got the HP numbers wrong . I finished this video at 4 AM this morning , crashed then uploaded the video around 7 Am . In hindsight i should never render videos at those hours with little sleep.
