I'm still really confused about the fractured club differences in the socal region, I have no idea what to go to.

Well, we have SoCalTPI and SC3G. From what it looks like is that some people go to the former club's meets, and some go to the latter. Everyone still mostly posts here while forums exist for both sites.

SC3G is strictly a 3rd generation f body club that has meets throughout Southern California in a effort to bring 3rd gens and owners alike together to help keep these modern day classics alive and on the road. We also have a multitude of events including cruises, track days, meet & greets, bbq's, etc...
I don't know about the traffic on the SoCalTPI site but the traffic on the SC3G site is all but nonexistent because our viewership has migrated over to our SC3G Facebook Page. So for the last couple of years our site has literally been a ghost town again because of Facebook.
In any event, both clubs have plenty of people with dual membership and that's great because in the end it's all about keeping these cars on the road and owners behind the wheel!
I hope this helps but please know that you should feel welcome at either clubs events as they are both run by fellow enthusiasts with a passion for the mighty 3rd gen

Right on Rick, it would be good to see you
FYI guys, I've received a couple of inquiry's as to whether or not it would be ok for people from the LA, IE, and OC areas to caravan down to and participate in our club lunch/meet & greet but not go on the Palomar Mountain Cruise.
Of course! Simply meet up with everyone else at our staging area, cruise down to Mission Valley with us, enjoy lunch, check out the cars, and head back up north or stay and enjoy the San Diego area when we head out for the cruise. The more the merrier!

Speaking of spare parts, I'm bringing a spare alternator just in case.

Re: SC3G San Diego Meet & Palomar Mountain Cruise Sunday December 2, 2012 @ 12PM
I'll have a compressor, floor jack, couple of serpentine belts, 5 gallons of water, tools, etc... Guys a look around your garages for spare/used radiator hoses, belts, water pumps, alternators, etc. I’ve been on several cruises where any one of these items would had someone back on the road in minutes instead of hours driving around looking for a parts house (usually in the middle of nowhere) that hopefully had the part.
If you are joining us for this Super Cruise please take the time to check your fluid levels, radiators, heater control valves, tire pressure, brakes, belts & hoses, air dams, and spare tires.
If you know your vehicle is not mechanically sound enough for an all day driving event, please do not bring it. This club has been around for over a decade so believe me when I say there will be plenty of other cruises you will be able to join us for in the future.
The more proactive we are as a club the less the chance of someone having a breakdown. Our club credo is to never leave anyone behind so if anyone has any concerns about being left on the side of the road in the middle of nowhere... Don't worry, you're good
Remember guys, safety is paramount! Let's make it a great one

Still looks like a good chance for rain. Not sure if im going to make it in the rain. Not in the 3rd gen anyway. Think I'll go out to the garage and rain-x the windows anyway. well see how it looks out in the morning. It was very nice out in North SD County today, so maybe we'll get lucky.
I want to go,... I'll cross my fingers for no rain

Well I cheated and jumpped off the cruise early, so I'm sure I was the first one to make it home.
It's been a while since I've been through Cuyamaca. I think since the fires. I used to work up at the lake when I was a kid. So much of it now is burnt trees and empty lots where buildings used to be.
Even though I'm sure someone else has a better camera and a better pic, I'll post up the only good pic I got of the trip.
Thanks to Grey Goose for organizing the run and to all that went. I had a good time. Even if we did get a little wet near the end.

Thanks to everyone that braved the elements and came out for the San Diego event yesterday. Special thank to Frank & Steve for pounding out 400+ miles round trip! Great to meet up with our fellow 3rd gen enthusiasts in the San Diego area and hope to do so again soon!
