Realized this awhile ago as I watched the MAX allowable emissions fall every other year. My last test drove the point home and inspired me to put measures in place where I will no longer have to do it anymore

Re: CA smog ****'s

I smogged stock (88 IROC with LB9 and 5-speed) and passed about a month ago. Made sure it was good and hot, and left it running while waiting for the smog tech.

I was plenty nervous during the test though.

Re: CA smog ****'s

except for using an '89 chip, i smogged stock. 186k on the engine. used 91 octane and got it nice and warm. it was pretty clean i can post the numbers later if you want.

was mostly nervous because the valve seals are bad and can get a huge puff of smoke on startup. i made sure to start it a few times before showing up.

Re: CA smog ****'s

i'm taking my stock '84 Z28 (lg4 carbed) to get a "test run" done at a local junior college. i'm taking an engine rebuilding class this fall, and the guy who runs the program said they were teaching a smog tech class and i could bring it by and they would run it and check it out. I highly suggest people trying this if you think you're going to fail, better than wasting money on a run. I'll post my numbers of both the pretest and when i actually go to get the test done.
